Origin8 Supercell Wire Bead Fat Bike Tires, 26 x 4.0, Black/Black

I decided to take a change and replace my worn out stock Rad Rover 19 tires with something little more street friendly. These things are great much nicer ride, they do take a few miles to get used to and that is one thing that other riders have said they tend to pull to one side or the other until they get broken in after that they are so much nicer ride for this 66 year old body

After 1820 miles on my Rad Rover 5 stock Kenda tires, I purchased these tires. This is what I noticed:These are quiet tires. If you dislike the loudness and noise from the Kenda tires, get these.They handle pretty well.They don’t tend to grab on the edges, which may be good or bad depending on the terrain you are riding.They handle bumpy large gravel really well.They are more buoyant, and have a bit of a cushioning effect. So the ride is smoother.All this said, these tires are a very different ride experience than the Kenda tires. The Kenda’s do have some advantages over these like steep trail riding stability. I miss that in these tires.The Kenda tires also have a reflective strip that makes them more visible for night driving. It would be great if these tires had that in a pattern similar to its tread pattern.I don’t know if there is a company making a tire that combines the elements of both types of tires.I really like these tires, though I miss some items the Kenda’s have. If you don’t do steep trail riding and mostly ride on roads and paths, you’ll probably love these.

This is my 2nd one of these I bought, my first one was the 120 tpiThe 2nd one was the 30 tpiThey just came the way they came in mail, I wanted the 30 tpi the 1st one I ordered but I got the 120tpi, I have about 500 miles on the first one I bought, I like this type of street tire way better then the knobby tires n I go down dirt roads a lot n pavement roads n sidewalksWhen going down dirt roads that are muddy these street tires don't collect a lot of mud on the tire like the knobby ones do, with the knobby ones they get to muddy n the back tire mud will start getting in n on the chain n derailleur n cassette, then you got a lot of cleaning to doWhen going down dirt roads these do fine I think , also when it rains these don't spit up as much waterThey grip pavement or sidewalk good n sometimes to good n you got to slow down n get bike back on path from the tires gripping you off your path someI haven't installed the 2nd 30 tpi one I just received in mail, but I am putting it on soonAfter you ordered it, message the seller n tell them you want the 30 tpi if you want this one n you got a better chance of getting it

I bought one of these for the front of my Rip Current S. Much quieter and smoother than the stock tire. After installing I inflated it to 15 psi and rode for five or six miles to get the tube adapted to it's new home - noticed a lot of 'self steer'. When I got back home I inflated it to 20 and most of the self steer went away. After 25 miles it still might turn a little faster than the stock tire.Works well on pavement and hard packed trails. I wouldn't want to run it on a trail with a lot of mud, or in snow or ice - but that is not the job of my ebike anyway.If I have any issues with durability or lifespan, I'll come back and update this. Right now I have maybe 25 miles on it and everything seems fine.

I wanted to replace the Kenda knobbies on my Aventon Aventure (e-bike) with something closer to a street tire. My wife’s Level has street tires and since we always ride together we tend to stick to paved roads or at least very smooth trails. Surprisingly there are very few options for a 26x4 tire right now. Lots of options for 26x2.25 or 20x4 but just not much for these larger ones. I’ve been watching the price of these Origin8 tires all winter and grabbed them when the price was at it’s lowest of the year. They shipped from separate warehouses but arrived the same day - 2 days to my house. Very large boxes, but since they are the wire bead version I appreciated that they didn’t fold them into a smaller box.Tires were fine when unboxed and I quickly got to work changing out the OEMs for these along with new inner tubes (Mongoose tubes also from here on Amazon). I had left my tire levers at work in my other bike’s bag so I made due with an insulated screwdriver to ease the bead over the wheels. Both tires fit perfectly and the beads were centered the first time - I still worked the beads as I slowly brought up the pressure from 3psi to 6psi, 10psi, and then up to 20psi (max rating for the tire per the stamp on the side). I gave each wheel a good spin while holding the skewers and they seemed pretty balanced and no wobbling.I mounted them up and I took my first ride on them fully expecting some self steer and wasn’t disappointed. I could definitely feel the bike fighting me both into the turns and then out of the turns. Basically the tires disagree with you when you are entering/exiting turns. On straight stretches they respond well and tracks nice. Other reviews have said this will settle down after you get a good 15-20 miles on them, but I only have about 5 on them so far. Still they feel like they might be calming down already - or else I’m just getting more used to it. I’ll try to update again once I get a good 50 miles on them. I’m keeping the tire pressure at the max (20psi) since I weigh 270 lbs but that is where I kept the OEM tires too.Visually they look great and still have that fun fat tire look to them while being much quieter when going 22-23mph on the road. Might even get a couple more miles per charge, but normally I charge up once I hit about 25-30 miles anyways so I don’t think that’ll alter my normal charging routine. I did compare the Kenda tires to these new Origin8 tires when they were both removed and the Origin8 tires have significantly thinner sidewalls on them. If I’m on the road all the time then it hopefully won’t be a factor but for some folks it might be important to know that.Overall I’m happy with them. I do hope the self-steering fades as I break them in but even if it doesn’t I’d still keep them mounted. I do wish the price was a little lower, but they were at the lowest they’ve been in a year so I guess I can’t complain too much.
