Q: The description says this is a "liquid." Is that correct? I was expecting chunky granules.

No, it is not a liquid, but rather granules. Does a great job.... I have used it for 19 years and have not had an issue with it.

Q: Can this be used in any dishwasher with a softener reservoir?

Dishwasher I have requires salt in built in softener. I have a Bosch. A light tells me when to add to my reservoir. I recommend by all means.

The box indicates that it contains 1.2 kg (a MASS quantity) of product. Converted to a WEIGHT/FORCE quantity the box contains approximately 2.64 lbs or 11.77 newtons of product.
