Q: Could this be bricked in to retain more heat

I actually dud put fire bricks on the unit to try to retain heat, the result was, this unit, unlike a rocket stove; is trimmed down a bit to heat up ro about 800-900 degrees at the most and my feeling was that the fire bricks. While effective, also seemed to kind of rob the stove of it's heat at the same time, and since the unit runs on the draft it creates with it's own heat, it tended to mess with the draft a little bit. However, I did not use soapstone, which I'm feeling would be the perfect add-on to one of these stove.

Q: Is it possible to use this stove with an existing 8” class A chimney? Or do I need to get an insert to drop the size down to 4”?

This is only meant to be used with 3-4 inch pellet pipe or with 6 inch Class A stove pipe.

Q: Does it lower the efficiency of the stove to remove the air cover? It gets to 600 degrees with it off, 500 with it on. But am I wasting pellets?

I will be fabricating a screen cover for the fire box so I can get 600 degrees and be able to leave it unsupervised.
