This stone is nicely constructed and packaged. But it is not very abrasive so it is not effective at sharpening knives; very little metal is removed with every sharpening stroke. So it may be OK if you have significantly more patience than me. But for a comparable grit size, King brand waterstones (that I have for sharpening chisels) are massively more effective, and get the job done in a sensible time. I would suggest buying a better grade of waterstone unless you have the patience of Job...

Arrived early, packaged well. Opened to find instructions good enough for me to follow. So far I have lapped & sharpened x1 10mm (50 yr old) stanley chisel which is better now than at any other time in its life! Highly recommend this to anyone who needs a sharp edge.

You can only use it to practice the angle on cheap knives, it is wearing off after a few minutes of using, money spent unwisely
