Big guy is using his box again!
My Cat had stopped using his litterbox after getting trapped by another brands litterbox door which was a swinging flap. I was at my wits end when I got the Petmate Retracting Litterpan. I decided to temporarily use Precious Cat Cat Attract Problem Cat Training Litter, 20 pound box rather than the Swheat I'd been using. He's a very big boy and I was afraid the box might be too small but that is not the case. He took to it and the litter right away. I think both my cats especially my little one like having a full view outside the box while doing their business in case one of them is being stalked by the other...I do have a few issues with the box, but it's been such a lifesaver that I'm happy to live with a few drawbacks like the box is difficult to use with liners, also the clips on the sides are difficult to close and open. The top lid is a little flimsy but it doesn't seem to affect its use.One last thing.. I have a smallish Bichon who thinks Cat Cookies are the best delicacy on earth... I have always had litter boxes with doors which seems to have been no obstacle for her.. For some reason she is hesitant to go fishing in this box. I think she could get in if she really wanted too but I think that lid comes down a little further than she's comfortable trying to defeat. If you have a big dog it would be a deterrent.

Nice low entry for elderly cats!
I am a big fan of Savic Nestor litter boxes, but it's become impossible to get them here in the US. They have great height, high backs, and low entry points. So, when I adopted an 11 year old cat with arthritis, my regular sized Savics were not wide enough for her. I searched high and low for a litter box with a low entry height, yet big enough for a good-sized cat. This was the only model that met those requirements. My senior cat can easily step into it, and it's been a great solution for us. I was hoping she'd like the hood (love that retractable feature for ease of scooping), but it seems just a bit too confining for her. So we use the box without the hood. If only the hood were just a few inches taller. I'm very curious why manufacturers don't make more of the larger litter boxes with low entry points? Cats get old and really need these. There would be a good demand, I would think!

Almost perfect
Perfect size, quality, and concept. The only thing I don't love about it is the little door overhang or whatever you want to call it. I love how it stops my cat from coming full speed in and out, and I love the idea of moving it up so you can clean inside, but because of the shape, it is actually kind of hard to do because it rolls back into the box and just reverses what it looks like externally. It is also not really removable, so if you pop the top off to refill the litter or dump out the old litter, you do have to deal with it. Overall still a fan of this purchaseOh, I forgot, it has this little filter on the back-top, yeah, that didn't last a day even being taped down, maybe needs a redesign where it more slides in and there are only little slats so it can't be pulled out by our furry friends

Roomy, nice looking litter box
This litter box is one of the best I've found. It's roomy and large enough for my cats to use and easily turn around in with extra space (my cats are both between 9 to 10 lbs. each but one of them is long). The box is attractive, easy to clean, and sturdy. I don't use the top or retracting cover so can't comment on that. The box is a bit pricey compared to some, but I like the box so much I bought another one for my 2nd litter box. The sides aren't super high if you have a litter kicker but the sides are higher than a lot of boxes and you can always use the lids if your cat(s) tolerate it. I hope this box sticks around because if/when I need to replace it, I want to buy the same one. I highly recommend it.

Well, it's a great idea but if you have a zealous litter-box-micromanager kitty....
Well, it's a great idea but if you have a zealous litter-box-micromanager that kicks it everywhere as I do, it just isn't going to work.Yes it keeps the litter closer to the box, say 1 to 2 feet but it's still on the floor not in the box. This box is made really well and the assembly was easy enough. The box is large and the kitties transitioned nicely to it. Cleaning is pretty easy but you have to get lower to scoop it out if you don't take the whole top off which I don't do b/c I'm too lazy and I clean it as often as I can to avoid the micromanager coming in and kicking it all over the floor again.I have now purchased an enclosed litter box to see if that puts an end to kicked up litter. TBD.

Worth every penny!
Our cats are OBSESSED with this litter box. We have two cats that produce an impressive (and terribly stinky) amount of waste, and we’ve struggled to find a litter box they like that isn’t open and available for our dog to munch on their little leavings. While trying this litter box out, we left their two original litter boxes next to the new one in case they didn’t like it. The old boxes haven’t been touched by them in days, and they’re both exclusively only using this litter box. We’re impressed since not only do our cats like it and our dog is unable to access the droppings, but it’s also significantly cut down on the normal smell of cat waste. I’ll be recommending this litter box to any of my friends that are tired of the ammonia smell with their cats.
