Q: Why is this so much more expensive than the Universal version? What’s the difference?

You got me, it's all cheap particle board. And they sure didn't waste money on accurate tooling holes or instructions.

Q: What are the outside dimensions once bed is assembled and folded against the wall then dimensions when opened ? Thanks

When unfolded it looks like a full sized bed.

Q: how are doors attached to frame

The essence of the bed is the substantial metal hinge that attaches the "door" to the edge frame. Steel fittings with many screws, inserts, and bolts. Works great.

Q: How is the mattress secured to frame, when I get a mattress?

It does not get attached. There are bent metal pieces that insert into the frame which stop the mattress from sliding downward when the bed is in the closed position. Elastic strapping could be installed at the foot of the mattress if desired but it isn't necessary.
