this product works great. I tried vacuum sealing for the 1st time and it was great. I took fresh fruit and sealed it then placed in the fridge. I also put fresh beans in the mason jars and sealed them. They look better than being in the bags. Plus it keeps the pest out. This is truly a great gift idea for someone that preserves and stores food in jars.

This Vacuum tool for dry canning works well. It has two challenges, which cost it one star in my review.1 - If the suction tool is not lined up nearly perfect, a suction will not be established.2 - The interior of the vacuum cap has a little too much space which allows for the canning lid insert to be easily off center. This impacts success of keeping proper vacuum with the jar.Not this tool's fault is one other issue. The canning jars and lids which we have used (Ball, Kerr and Anchor Hocking) often have an issue holding the vacuum. A couple days later they tend to lose the seal. This is likely due to the seals being designed for a hot water bath which warms and softens the sealing agent on the lid allowing a good seal.

Nozzle too large. Otherwise, it looks ok. Description says it fits FoodSaver vac-500 and highly compatible.

With the hand pump I don’t have to bring out my vacuum machine for quick small vacuuming jobs. Sealing mason jars is easy. I use the vacuum sealer for freezer storage items.

This did not work with my vacuum sealer. I had originally planned to buy a battery powered sealer, but thought that manual one would be convenient to have and since it came with hoses that would work with my countertop machine, this seemed like the better option. I tried the manual pump first. I did not realize that there would not be an attachment to connect it to the jar sealer. It has a flat rubber end that you are supposed to hold flush with the hole in the white cap that you fit over the jar. If you move it at all, you break the seal and loose the vacuum that you have worked tocreate. I tried multiple times to seal a jar and was not successful. Even when I felt a lot of resistance while pumping, the lid would remain in the sealer cap when I removed it from the jar. When I gave up on the manual sealer and attached the included hose to the sealer and tried to use it with my countertop food saver, it would not create a vacuum either. When the unit powered off after a sealing cycle, the jar lid remained in the cap when I removed it from the jar. I have started a return of this item.
