Q: How do you install it into the ceiling? Is it easy?

The fixture is very easy to install, you just need to use the included screws to install the pulley and wall-mounted parts on the ceiling

Q: Does anyone know what to do when the lamps don't come with the collar to hold the shade to the pendant?

Two options: 1) contact seller through Amazon and explain situation and hope they send the needed part. or 2) return entire light package to Amazon and reorder. Hopefully the next package will be complete. We really like this set of two lights. We use over our "puzzle table.

Q: How can You hide the cord?

You have to be creative. Realize the switch is on the cord as well. Also, you may not want to do something permanent, since you can raise or lower the lamp on the pulley.
