Excellent solution to prevent clogged drains, very easy to fit, it stops hair getting down the drain pipes.
The Starfish Drain Cover from Umbra was delivered very fast and was incredibly easy to fit.The cover has small suckers underneath each of the star 'corners' and these attach the drain cover to the bath.I have a pop up waste cover in the bath tub which I removed to apply this star drain cover. The bath is mainly used for showers so this solution works for me.The star cover is slightly domed shaped which means the support for the pop up waste is well accommodated without getting in the way. To use the bath tub for a bath rather than a a shower, I simply replace the pop up waste by removing the start cover and screwing back the metal fitting. The star cover is made of soft silicone like material. I opted for the white version and it looks good with the white bath tub.It fully covers the drain waste whilst allowing water to drain nicely and it is very good at catching most of the long hair which would otherwise risk getting stuck in the drain pipe. I simply remove the collected hair after each use and dispose of it in the bin.I purchased this item because the water from the bath was draining very slowly after five years from having anew bath tub fitted. My plumber cleaned the pipes and the offending item was a large ball of hair which accumulated over the years. He recommended I get this sort of drain cover to prevent future problems and I ma very pleased with this solution.Avery simple and incredibly effective idea which works extremely well.

Works perfectly!
Very happy with this product and can't believe I spent so long without one! We are a long haired household, so this has been a real time saver at a very reasonable price. This catches all the hair etc from blocking the plug hole. I don't have to unblock the drain half as much as I used to.Easy to clean, but I'd recommend waiting for any caught hair to dry before removing it from the catcher as for some reason this makes it easier. Cleans with cloth and bathroom spray, don't need anything special. Would recommend cleaning every time you clean the bath or shower.Good suction power - we've had ours for a few years now and have to remove and reattach it regularly as have a bath/shower combo and take it out if having a bath, and it is still strong and stays in place, but is also easy to remove - just pull it off.

Great Hair Catcher, big and not filmsy
Wanted to find a hair catcher that catches my long hair and also covers our shower plug hole. The hair catcher worked very well in our shower and catches the hair. It was huge enough to cover the en-suite shower plug hole and did not lift or slide about when someone is in the shower. The suction stays in place, unlike the Dossil Hexapus that I purchase, which was not big enough to cover the shower plug and also floated about in the shower tray when showering. Tested it also in our bathroom, the suction does not stay as well in the bath due to the curvature of a bath, but it still did catch most of the hair. Did not get full five stars, as when the item arrived, it was well wrap in the amazon box but the white catcher had some black marks, which I washed off with some soap before used.

This starfish is clearly excellent at trapping hair, judging by the amount it catches every shower
Nice feel to it, seems durable. Slides around a little bit occasionally but that is easily remedied by sticking it in place properly if I spot it's moved. With the number of hours the shower is on in this house, I don't think it's unreasonable. This starfish is clearly excellent at trapping hair, judging by the amount it catches every shower. We thought we were good at trying not to get hair to go down the drainhole, but this starfis proves we really needed this useful gadget. After each shower, we just grab 1 sheet of toilet paper and wipe the hair off the starfish to dispose of it. Works great. Also great at catching plaster falling off the ceiling, btw. That stuff is so brittle it just breaks if you try to pick up a piece, but this starfish lets it hold its shape till we can wipe it up with a tissue - much more effective than when we tried to pick up plaster from the shower tray (our ceiling is peeling, and due a facelift).Only had this a few days, so not tried to clean the underside yet.

Unsatisfactory suction, difficult to clean
My bath tub has a pop-up drain. You need to remove the top od the drain before placing this. It does not stretch over the pop-up drain cover.Follow-up review: The fourth picture is after 4 months despite some cleaning in between. The suction power is pointless as there are gaps and hair gets through. Thats the hair after 2-3 hair washes which i removed from the drain. The black stuff is mould and cant be cleaned unless i guess i dunknit in bleach cleaner. But i dont think i have any use for this, definitely not in the kitchen sink. Learning point: plastic/silicone products in wet area need frequent cleaning and attract mould.

Works but impossible to keep clean-looking
I would have given it 5 stars for design form and function. It's pretty and it works... Over the past 22 months of using it, it has served well to keep my shower drain getting clogged by my long hairs. HOWEVER, like other similar reviews, within the first few months of use I had started to notice some of the drainage holes had gotten rimmed with a black circle of mould. No amount of scrubbing with household cleaners could get them off. Now all the holes are "infected" and it looks pretty nasty so I am going to look for a better reviewed alternative. And the yellowing part is true too, though it didn't bothered me as much as the black mould rings. So 2 stars knocked off for that it is not that easy to clean and keep clean, and that it is susceptible to mould.

Yellow!
Would not recommend this. It looks brilliant white in the photo but when it arrives it's a yellowish colour that looks like you've had it for 20+ years.
