Sharpens carpenter’s pencils perfectly.
Great gadget for those of us who are unable to do sharpening with a knife. Gives a nice flat point for marking wood, tiles or whatever needs marking on diy jobs. Bought some Staedtler pencils and it sharpened them perfectly. Don’t need a sharp point I am not intending to use them for fine art! It even has screws on the blade so it can be tightened or removed and sharpened on a sharpening block before being put back the two main points that end up shredding pencils rather than sharpening them. Very pleased with this accessory to my carpenters pencils as a normal pencil sharpener won’t sharpen them. Can highly recommend this sharpener.

Don’t know why I ever went without!
Can’t understand some of the negative reviews. Why anyone would faff around with a knife rather than use one of these is beyond me. Okay, so it’s not cheap for a pencil sharpener but it works a treat and doesn’t break the bank. Will be in my toolbox for many years to come!

This little sharpener seems to sharpen carpenters pencils. You stick the pencil in and twist... and shavings start coming out.Exactly what you want from a pencil sharpener.

One of these will do the job very easily with minimum stress on the lead
Why not use a sharp knife? If you are sharpening the large carpenters ovoid shape pencils, then a sharp knife will most likely break the lead in them. One of these will do the job very easily with minimum stress on the lead, giving a good sharp point. At the end of the day it's only a pencil sharpener of course, but I have found it to be very handy indeed. Use high quality pencils however, as they are stronger when it comes to the twisting action and will be less prone to breaking when twisted in the sharpener, which will try to take a big 'bight' out of any pencils.Highly recommended.

Doesn't quite get sharp enough
Great to a degree but does get fully sharp and that can be annoying. Especially now I no longer carry a metal blade to sharpen and have changed to ceramic blades for safety
