Exactly as advertised
Everything is put together just as solid as my first Siwode (red/black handle with gold/black hardware and with bohi). The blade is very well sharpened and that graphene hexagonal pattern on the blade does have some texture to it.The tsuba and hardware all have a detailed dragon theme with an antique-bronze color that gives it some depth, though none of the hardware attracts a magnet (and not many made today do).The dimensions of this "Blue Dragon Graphene Sword" are nearly identical to my first Siwode (10.3" handle, 28.5" blade, 13/16" sori, 2lb & 6oz weight), so the weight, balance and performance of this sword feel exactly the same. The handle tang attracts the magnet all the way back to the last 1.5" (rear most menuki), which is the same spot as my first Siwode. The samegowa panels are not real fish skin, which is perfectly fine by me, but the striking blue color of the artificial samegowa does catch the eye from across the room. The scabbard has a black-spackled, semi-gloss finish that doesn't show fingerprint smears. It is subtle, classy, and it fits the blade very well (physically and thematically). This scabbard tapers down towards the end, slightly - not as small as the JINLONGPAN scabbard, but a tiny bit more than the (standard sized) SHUANGSHI scabbard. The sword arrived in a form-fit Styrofoam box, just as my other Siwode was packaged. The blade was wrapped in plastic, the handle was shrink wrapped in plastic, and the whole sword was inside another plastic sleeve, all of this was inside that outer Styrofoam box.Siwode does put more effort and material into their packaging than most other sword producers - and for those complaining about that excessive packaging (because it might seem wasteful), please recognize the sword did arrive perfectly sharp and beautiful as you would expect it to be.Other companies might add a certificate of authenticity and a sword bag (which are a nice bonus), but I would rather receive the pristine sword that I ordered, if I were to have a choice..Those skinny, inexpensive (4 or 5 bucks) shotgun sleeves work great as a sword bag. They can be rolled back down on their length so the elastic cuff indexes just above the tsuba. This allows the sleeve to hang on to the sword and scabbard, while exposing the last few inches of the handle for a quicker identification and easier access.I did notice the slightest 1° bend throughout the entire length of my katana, and that is the only disappointing aspect of it.Even with this consideration, I usually check the Siwode lineup for sale prices before I commit to a purchase with any other sword maker.SHUANGSHI (red) has a gorgeous cherry red lacquer scabbard. The tip piece of this red scabbard is the "universal standard" size dimension that is found on nearly all other Saya everywhere - the largest size. The cochira pommel, fuchi collar and tsuba all have a tiger theme, with a rabbit (?!?..) on the blade side of the tsuba. The Shuangshi sword is the lightest weight Siwode katana that I own, at 2lb & 4oz.More 3/4 angle pictures should be taken of this katana because the current photos don't capture the color and theme as well as they could. The swirl-pattern on the blade is a rough-textured grey that contrasts with the smooth/slick black surfaces. The grey, textured areas grab at the cloth whenever you wipe the blade down.Overall, both of these swords are better looking than I expected them to be - sharp, tight, solid and great looking.JINLONGPAN (maroon) has a subtle, matte finish Saya that doesn't quite draw your eye like the glossy cherry-red Saya of the Shuangshi sword does. This Saya tapers down quite a bit more severely at the tip - the smallest size of this group. I hadn't noticed this interesting detail until after owning it for a few weeks, but it is an interesting feature that doesn't exist on any of my other Saya. The Jinlongpan has an eye-catching, high-luster black & gold colored tsuba, with black ito wrap over black samegowa. All of the hardware follows a dragon theme, and none of it draws a magnet, as most made today don't.The dragon scale pattern on the blade follows the same textured grey surfaces that contrast with the slick black surfaces, just like the other sword blades within this group. My Jinlongpan is the heaviest (2lb & 8oz.) sword of these choices here, measured with a Wheeler trigger-pull scale..It is a fine looking sword that is built just as well as the other choices here. I find the Shuangshi katana to be the most attractive sword of these 4 options, but you might very easily prefer one of the others.

Decent budget katana
Not my first sword, but it is my first katana!Good fit between the blade and scabbard. The scabbard appears to be made of wood. Not sure what the exterior is composed of. It's very shiny.Love the design on the surface of the hilt. There are four different insects etched in the metal, one in each corner. When I withdrew the blade, the first thing I noticed was the crackled pattern on the blade. Like the appearance, but the pattern seems to be painted or printed and not a property of the worked metal. There's a little irregularity in the surface of the blade. The edge didn't appear terribly sharp when looking at it, blade on. Attempted a light swipe and a light stab into a pumpkin, and the blade did slice into the flesh of the pumpkin, and more than I expected it would.Overall - decent budget quality katana. Looks nice from a distance, but some imperfections are apparent if you examine it up close.

All I can say is WOW!!! These are GREAT!
I've always dreamed of having a Japanese Katana sword! When I saw this sword I had to have it! Well, I now have it, and all I can say is WOW!!! AMAZING!!!This handmade Katana sword is impressive from EVERY angle! I can't begin to tell you how impressed I am! I'll admit I'm a bit afraid of it, but BOY DOES IT LOOK GREAT! My only problem with this sword is where can I best display it? Everything about this Katana sword is awesome. I can't wait until my friends see it! The blade is frighteningly sharp! BE CAREFUL! This is no toy. It is the real thing! Most everything about it is black. There are some blue accents in the hilt. The tsuba is golden and looks jiust great! It comes with a beautiful scabbard, too! My wife may take some convincing... But this sword is destined for my living room wall over the fireplace. I can't wait to see it up there! It will REALLY dress up my living room!
