The Serum

Luxurious serum that has hydrated my face and brightened my complexion in only a few weeks
I’ve used this serum nightly for right under 4 weeks now and am very impressed with the results I am already seeing. The bottle the serum comes in and the holder are a bit over the top but pretty. The holder can be used as a vase also. The serum is an almost milky texture and very easy to apply. A very small amount is all that’s needed for full face and neck application. I love how lightweight the serum is when on. It does not feel oily at all. I do not notice any scent. After using nightly, I’ve noticed my skin feels and looks much more moisturized and healthy. I’ve received compliments on my face looking brighter. While the price is quite high, my results are noticeable in a short time so I feel the price is a great value.

Luxurious skin care
Feels great on my face. I’m not sure if it’s working or not but hope so for the price.

A great serum with an over-the-top presentation
If we can ignore the absolutely wild price on this serum, it is a very nice product. It has very little scent and a milky consistency that goes on smooth and absorbs well. My skin reacts very well to it, feeling hydrated, plumped and nourished. The presentation is really extreme: it comes in a big, cloth bound box that holds the copper colored, metal tube of serum and a strange blue vase for it to sit in. The blue vessel, while very pretty, doesn’t have any function other than to look pretty and hold your serum tube upright on your dressing table. I did appreciate that the whole thing comes with suggestions for how to re-use and re-purpose the blue vessel (because it really is pointless in the first place). This whole product is so extravagant that I both love it and thinks it’s insane. If we get rid of all the extra stuff and get down to the point of this whole thing, it’s a very good serum.

Didn't Really See Any Difference
I will be honest that I find spending $405 for a face serum to be a really big investment. I was excited to give it a try as a Vine Reviewer, and I wanted to give it as much time as possible to give it a thorough trial to share my experience with anyone considering the purchase. As background, I am 68 years old, grew up on the beaches of Southwest Florida when sunscreen was not a thing and in fact Hawaiian Tropic or baby oil was the preferred way to get as tanned as possible. My very fair complexion now has some hyperpigmentation. I have wrinkles as well, but the ones around my mouth that have shown up in the last few years are what I particularly find bothersome. As to the product itself, first of all, I find the glass holder to be pretty but unnecessary. You can purchase the 30ml refill without the holder for $25 less, though, and that's what I would do personally. As for the serum itself, I applied it both morning and night, after cleansing my face and using a toner. I do not have the full Augustinus Bader skincare line, but I use reputable products. Applying it or any other serum in gentle upward sweeping motions, as the directions instruct, is good practice, and I did that every time I used it. I also didn't skimp on the amount I used and even being generous with the product it's lasted a good while. I also didn't add or subtract anything else from my skincare so I could give it an honest test. The serum feels wonderful going on, absorbs quickly, and I do think maybe shows some softening of wrinkles right after you apply it, but it doesn't seem to last in my case. I have not noticed any improvement in my hyperpigmentation, though. It's difficult to tell how much more product is in the tube, but I would anticipate it will last at least through the month and possibly longer. I will continue to use it, of course, and if I do notice any changes for the better in my skin I'll update the review.I personally just cannot justify this much of an expense for something that doesn't seem to address the issues I'm seeking to fix. I didn't expect a miracle, but I did hope to see some softening of the wrinkles or lightening of the pigmentation issues. So in my case, It makes more sense for me to save up the cost of a product like this for a three or four months and go see a professional for treatment of my wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. Now, I will say if you are younger or have less damage to your skin, this product may well be VERY good for you to keep your skin in good condition as you age, however. I do feel it's very good quality ingredients, but in my case it's just not made a difference to justify the expense. I do appreciate the opportunity to try it, though!

The Serum with TFC8- a nice multifaceted product
Despite having heard Augustinus Bader mentioned in skincare forums, I was previously not quite familiar with the brand, and certainly not aware of how high end it is. The Serum did leave me with a positive impression, but I simply cannot get past the cost. Of course, if this is something you can afford to regularly use, by all means go for it! It's just not realistic for my current lifestyle.Opening the carefully curated packaging was an experience unto itself. I did not realize the base was coming with the serum, so I was quite surprised! I do appreciate how much thought they've put into the design, as well as the serum's formula. The base is made of a beautiful, weighty, blue glass with touches of gold. I love that the brand encourages recycling to the extent they do, as almost every part of this set can be reused or recycled (or refilled, of course.)The Serum itself seems to have been expertly formulated to be a true all-in-one serum. Fine lines, ageing skin, dehydration, redness, uneven tone, you name it- this serum contains ingredients working synergistically to help fix the problem. It nourishes, hydrates, helps protect from environmental damage, provides pollution protection, and just overall contains ingredients that can lead to a healthy complexion. The consistency is thin but not watery. It's between the consistency of a milky toner and a serum, in my opinion. I love that it is unscented, that fact alone gets a huge plus from me. The Serum glides on effortlessly and soaks in quickly, leaving behind no sticky/tacky or oily traces. It does work really well with my moisturizer and other PM products, but I have yet to use it in my AM routine or with makeup. Nonetheless, no pilling or anything with my other products.I definitely do lean more sensitive, my skin type is combo leaning dehydrated, and I'm 36 years old. I do have type 1 rosacea, so the areas it affects (cheeks and nose) are more sensitive than the rest of my face. When ordering this, I did not realize it contained vitamin C, which is an ingredient I can sometimes not handle. Just wanted to throw that in so folks are aware.Every issue this claims to help is one I have, pretty much. I have not been using this long enough to see amazing results. However, I can say that it did not cause any irritation. The vitamin C is the only ingredient I'm a bit concerned about, so I'm taking it slow. Spot tests went fine, so I tried it on my whole face and that went well too. I love how hydrating this is and how nice it makes my skin feel. It's very nourishing.I did feel like my skin looked a bit more glowy that next morning, too. I will definitely continue using this, however, no matter how well it works, it's just not something I could afford to purchase- and that's okay! I hope the review is helpful for those that can.
