if you mean the teethguard, yes separately. if the ligature insert is you are talking about, I have never seen it sold separately. I would go to home depot or ace´s hardware and have them show me a piece I could buy and insert it.

In my opinion, it should work well with either plastic or hard rubber. I've been very happy with mine, as I like it better than the older models.

Don't know about Martin. I'm pleased with the Versa ligature but I can't compare it to the vandoren leather. The web fabric ligature has very solid support and the band in front molds to your mouthpiece. I believe it would hold its support longer than a leather which would stretch out eventually.

Q: I read that this ligature 'cannot be inverted to all positions' What does this mean?

I believe it means that the position of the Reed is locked down on the plate so the ligature can only go on one way on the mouthpiece.
