They are amazing. I am comparing these to Platronics Gamecom 780s (There are two different ones, make sure you are looking at the 780s if you are comparing. I believe the 788s are the newer ones). Anyways, I bought these headphones because my Platronics broke (the plastic above the right headphone snapped).I mainly use this for my main game called counter-strike: GO for the PC. It is pretty amazing comparing to my last headset. I think its amazing. At first I wasn't sure about it, but now I don't regret my buy at all. CS:GO is all about knowing where the enemies are around you, and this headphone does an AMAZING job pointing out the enemies with the sound positioning.Once again, going back to playing cs:go, these headphones got me hearing things I didn't with the Platronics. I can't believe the sounds I was able to hear. The difference is I hear everything CLEAR. CRYSTAL CLEAR. I may have heard them in the other headphones, but if its not clear, its possible to easily mix it up with other sounds, or not even hear it I guess? When I play CS:GO and listen to the silencer on the m4, god d*mn, the feels are amazing. You hear the bass of the silencer right next to you. With the way the headphones are position you can easily tell where the gun fire came from.I am a big fan of rap music. I read reviews saying these headphones don't have any bass. But comparing my platronics and even other headphones, the bass in these sound amazing. I'm sure headphones could get more bass, but Im a person who was always into JL Audio subs, and speakers, I like my clear music but still bumpin. These headphones are perfect for what I use them for. If I want full on bass, I just use my actual nice PC speakers.Anyways, the main reason I bought this, is because I kept reading how headphones should be used to hear sounds in games than using a "headset". I never made the change, because I need to use a microphone. I thought it would pick up more things than just my voice, but I was wrong, and I'm glad I made the switch to headphones and a microphone for my online gaming.Bottom line:These headphones are amazing. You don't get the sound quality like these in "gaming headsets" at this price. These sound amazing, and I will never get a headset again in my life. If you play CS:GO or any games in general, you will love these headphones because they do a great job of doing directional sound.

It's All In The Product Title, and It's All Good!
Read the title for the product right here on Amazon.com. "Professional Studio Reference" headphones. I've had mine for almost a month now and that's exactly what they are. Very balanced sound. Samson needs to get the word out to the pro/semi-pro/home recording industry. These are not just tracking headphones (to allow musicians to hear themselves during recording), if you have mixing experience, you can MIX with these headphones, right up to final mix.Mastering, the final process of preparing your recording for publication (polish, sheen, loudness), may or may not be possible on these phones. I have yet to find out. But just the fact that you can really mix - because the frequency response is so balanced and so flat - on a pair of headphones under $70 is just amazing. I use old, reliable AKG 240s for tracking when recording, but I hook up the Samson 950s directly to my iPad for mixing and they sound awesome. I'm sure they'd sound even better in my headphone amp in the studio, but that's not what I got 'em for. This is for professional couch mixing, a new thing now that iOS is a viable recording platform, and these are the best 'phones I could recommend to any other mobile recording enthusiast/professional for mobile mixing at any price. Sure, there are plenty of $200+ headphones that might sound as good, but check the impedance - anything over 50 and your iDevice will have trouble driving it. At 32 Ohms, these headphones are specced perfectly for mobile mixing.A killer deal. They are a bit tight, but that's easily fixed, just stretch 'em out as needed, let them spend the night over a chair or the back of your couch if you need to. I've got a big head, and haven't needed to stretch them. And I wear them for hours on end. You'll also want to use some sort of ties to rope off the excess length if you plan on walking anywhere with them on - otherwise you could easily trip on the cord, or draw unwanted attention from nearby cats. I'd rather have the excess chord and not need it than not have it and find myself needing it. Both the tension of the fit and length of the chord can be easily remedied for everyday use. There should be more hype about these headphones. In fact, I may go out and try to create some. This review is a start, and I highly recommend the Samson SR950s to anyone in the recording industry - home or studio - or anyone who needs to hear a flat frequency response in their headphones. These babies punch well above their weight and are just a tremendous value. I did a LOT of research before selecting these, and I couldn't be happier with my choice :)
