Quiet and effective
I've only been using this cooler for a couple of days, but so far I'm impressed. My Acer Swift laptop has been badly overheating recently causing all sorts of issues so I knew I need to do something.I'll confess when I started looking on Amazon for a laptop cooling pad I wasn't even sure if such a thing existed so was a little overwhelmed with all the options.Having researched for a couple of days, I was fairly certainly KLIM was the right brand for me and this particular model seemed liked a good option for what I need whilst being relatively inexpensive.I've been using it for the last couple of days and so far it seems to be doing the trick. My laptop hasn't overheated and shut down over the last couple of days, and whilst I can hear the fans they're quite quiet and not obtrusive. In addition, the raised position of my laptop is working well for me and along with the two other screens I'm running is now a more ergonomic set up.

Good design and quiet, but does it provide enough cooling?
Not sure that the fan speed is fast enough to cool down laptops under heavy load. Having said that, it’s very quiet and well designed.

Right size for a 15.6" screen laptop & very quiet
Lightweight - a bit of a plasticky feel to it even with the perforated aluminium top sheet. Very quiet in operation and you may as well increase the speed to maximum as it's no louder and it won't intrude on the quietest room - you can just about hear it still running after the laptop powers down, shutting off its own processor fan. The RPM fan speed count seems a bit gimmicky as it flickers up and down in operation presumably to add some interest. Also notice the speed isn't controlled, just reported on the display - so when first started the maximum speed is less than 1200rpm but it gets there a minute later. Top speed of 1160 RPM when plugged into a laptop USB port - just over 1200 RPM when plugged into an external 5V USB adapter. Device has two USB ports - either one can be used to connect to the laptop and the other is therefore for pass-through connection of another device. I believe this is only USB 2 and so I haven't tried its functionality. Has a tilt stand underneath but I'm not using it - just keeping it folded away. Fans do make a little noise just as they start spinning so I assume they're ultra-cheap sleeve bearings. I've only been running the cooler for a few months so I can't comment on how long the bearings last, but I'd expect them to get noisy after a few years of use. Correct size for a 15.6" screen laptop - may be too small for a 17" laptop. If you lift the laptop up half an inch with the fans running, there is a very noticeable cold breeze underneath so it definitely works. Purchased it because I was running heavyweight video processing software that used the graphics chip in the laptop for all the heavy processing work and meanwhile I was running another file processing app that was running the CPU at almost 100% on all cores. The laptop fan was running full speed all the time but with this device is doesn't have to get there, and I also notice the laptop's fan speed drops down to a slow/quiet level much faster once all the heavy processing is finished. I'd recommend this device - it's much more conservatively styled than the gaming coolers and it is quiet in use under all conditions. One thing I'd say is the USB power connection is at the back so with the supplied cable the USB plug sticks straight. As such you can't push the assembly close to a wall or an enclosed or lipped back to a desk, so if you want to do this try and find a USB to USB cable that has a right-angled connector at one end and you'll be able to get the laptop and cooler a bit further back. All in all very happy with this and wouldn't go back to not having one now.

This one actually works and is quiet enough!
I've tried a few cooling pads to cool my 2016 MacBook Pro whilst running Cubase Pro music software. Cubase runs very hot on my MacBook (also driving a second screen) with internal fans running up to 6000rpm to cool 58/59c making a dreadful hissing noise that has really been a pain whilst mixing. The problem with other pads I've encountered is the fan noise has been too loud even if they manage to cool the MacBook sufficiently. I find the fan noise from this Klim pad very acceptable and it cools my MacBook just enough (about -4 to 6c) to avoid the MacBook fans from running into 'hissing mode'. I think that it tilts forward creating more space below the laptop helps. The build quality seems very good and it supports my 15inch MacBook Pro very well. See pics. Sturdy. Highly recommended.
