This security device requires a certain level of electrical/electronic skills to integrate it into your car's system. It also involves committing to a service that connects the device's data to a central file service which you can access. It's not a simple plug-and-play operation, and you will need to make monthly payments to a third party. However, if your car is at risk of being stolen, this device could be one of the few options available to track it down and alert the authorities before the thieves disable the device.

I've used this type of device on multiple cars for many years. Be aware that setting up something like this takes some doing. I liked that this unit doesn't require a separate adapter. However, the description states that the unit has a built-in backup battery. I don't think it does since it is very lightweight and immediately powers off when disconnected. That's fine as far as I am concerned, because the units with battery I've had were always cause for concern, since the batteries always swell over time from being constantly plugged-in to power in a car, thus creating a risk of fire. The unit works great in SMS mode (call with a phone or send text messages), but does not work for me in GPRS mode. I can access and login to the company's website, but there is no GPS data from the device showing on that system. My understanding is that the 2G-3G GPRS networks are being phased out, and using one of the main cellular networks in the U.S. did not work for me. One last point is that no IMEI number was supplied with the device that I could find. This made it tricky to active with the cellular provider. I resorted to use a cell phone for the activation. I am still happy with the device because it does exactly what I expected it to do. Click on the link in the text messages to automatically load a google map of the device's location. Works great in that way. No monthly fee other than for your own SIM card. Would buy again, but the product's description should be updated.

The thing I like about this, is if I break down, and my spouse doesn't know where I am, it can always check and see where I am and send emergency services. It's kind of like a spare tire, I never want to use it, but if I need it, I'm glad it is there.

I like this thing. I didn't know something like this existed, especially with all the features. I was looking for just a GPS and then I came across this and liked all the other options like cutting the engine off. very cool. it was pretty easy to hook up and connect to the app and network etc. it comes with instructions on how to do all that. no big worries there which was a load off my back. im not very technical. the cut off feature is very convenient. if I give the command, the tracker will wait for the car to slow past a certain speed and then it will cut off the engine. I assume it won't cut the engine if the robber is driving 100MPH. which is nice too. the app comes with a free service but I opted for the pay one because it offered more features and services. it wasn't expensive at all so why not, I went for it. I can even go on the computer and see exactly where the car has been. that's nice especially if you have kids or whatnot and want to keep track of their whereabouts. it looks well built. that's good because it gets cold here in the winter and hot in the summer and the weather can be harsh. so we will see how long it holds up. it feels strong and the casing looks thick so it should do well. this was a very good purchase. for the money it was well worth it. A+ GPS tracker.

So, one of the SIM cards I tried was 5g, and this says it's only 4g. But the one other SIM card I tried was 4g for sure, and was brand new, so it should have worked. I screwed around on their website trying to get it to show up on the map, but just no go. Maybe neither of my SIM cards is compatible, so I gave it 2 stars as a "benefit of the doubt", but personally, despite my best efforts, just couldn't get it to function. All 3 lights light up, stating it should be working, have GPS, and GSM communication. It should be working, it just isn't. Maybe someone else will have better luck with it than I did.
