Awesome monitor. Responsive touch. Power cord a bit too short.
Just got mine yesterday from Amazon and hooked it up right away. I've avoided HP in the past after being burned by some of their low-quality PCs/Laptops, but I decided to give them another shot when I saw the good reviews for this monitor. I'm glad I did.The picture is beautiful. I bought this monitor to replace a 23.9" ASUS 1920x1080 monitor I bought in 2010. I loved the picture on my ASUS, but this HP is even better. It's very high contrast and the colors are quite vibrant. The color/brightness/contrast settings were perfect out of the box, too. I spent some time messing with the brightness and contrast after I hooked it up, but ultimately settled on the default values as I couldn't improve on them. I searched all over the screen for dead pixels and didn't see any. It appears to be flawless. As others have stated, the glossy display has some annoying glare in a bright room, but that's probably unavoidable with a capacitive touchscreen. In a darker room it's not much of a problem. If you've ever used an iPad, you've experienced the same sort of glare. It was also very easy to mount the device, which was a relief. I use an Ergotron monitor arm which has a VESA mount, and getting my old ASUS monitor mounted to it was a huge pain. The ASUS had numerous inaccessible screws and arcane tabs/seams that made it difficult to take the stand off to get to the mount. This HP monitor doesn't have that problem. Just unscrew 2 obvious, easily-accessible screws and the stand comes right off to expose the mounting holes. One minor issue I did encounter when mounting it is that the power cord is much shorter than I'd like. The monitor uses a "power brick"-style power adapter, similar to the ones that come with laptops. When I thread the power cord through the monitor arm there isn't quite enough slack between the brick and the monitor for the brick to sit on the desk. It dangles slightly. I had to put a little platform on the desk for the brick to sit on so as not to keep pulling on the cord. It's easy to get an electrical extension cord to lengthen the cord between the brick and the wall outlet, but there isn't much I could do about the cord between the brick and the monitor. Of course, this probably won't matter to you if you're setting the monitor on your desk like most people do.I was also pleased to see that the monitor came with all the cables you could need with it. DVI, HDMI, power, and audio. You'd think this would be a given, but when buying blu-ray players and TVs in the past I've found that cables often have to be purchased separately. Kudos to HP for including them all.The touch functionality feels very good. Highly responsive and very accurate. I've used tablets that had sluggish-feeling touchscreens and this does not feel like that at all. It feels great. I didn't notice before I bought it that it's 5-point touch instead of 10-point touch like I'm used to. But unless you're playing touchscreen piano or something you probably won't care. The monitor came with a software CD, but the touch functionality worked perfectly in Windows 8.1 as soon as I plugged it in, so I didn't bother installing the software. It seems it isn't needed in Windows 8.1 Maybe you'd need it for Windows 7.I also have to say that using a touchscreen in Windows is much easier on a 23" monitor than it is on a small laptop. I have a 15" laptop with a touchscreen, but I don't use touch on it much because everything in Windows desktop mode is so small on a 15" device. This is less of an issue on a 23" monitor. It's much easier to tap small buttons on a 23" screen. That said, it's still somewhat awkward to use Windows in desktop mode with a touchscreen. But it's a lot less awkward than it is on my laptop. It's not awkward at all though to use the new Windows 8 apps built with touch in mind. The one thing I can't comment on is the sound quality. I didn't bother plugging in the audio connector since I already had a good sound system on my PC. Even if I had though I probably wouldn't be able to tell you much, since I'm not an audiophile and tend not to appreciate high-quality sound as much as I apparently should.Overall, this monitor is excellent, especially for the price. I'm surprised the difference in price between a touchscreen monitor and a non-touchscreen one is so low. I would absolutely buy this monitor again, and in fact I very well might so that I can have a dual monitor setup later.

After setting up as the external monitor to my laptop ...
UPDATE a few hours later: Duh...swapped out the video adapter cable (6 foot, Cable Matters MiniDisplay Port http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00APLJ58M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) The longer cable I had been using also left green pixels on another monitor, so it was the cable & not this monitor. Now that it's correctly connected, it's a very nice display.OLD: After setting up as the external monitor to my laptop, I've spent the last two days attempting to eliminate green pixels on the screen with no luck. My fault I didn't do this within the 30 day return period, since it appears to be the monitor, not the settings or adjustments because of the laptop. Next time, will check return policy period & not lollygag...

A good monitor, but manufacture quality is marginal
While this monitor seems to be well calibrated and its touch function works very well, the glass on the monitor I received has some imperfections that detract from the quality. My monitor has several "specks" that appear to be chips or something sticking to the inside of the monitor surface. At first I thought they were sticking to the outside of the screen, but they are most definitely on the underside of the screen and will not clean off. Otherwise it is a nice, well-calibrated monitor and works very well with my HP Envy Touchsmart notebook computer with Windows 8.1. If the manufacture quality had been better I would have given it five stars.

Fantastic monitor, and if looking for a touch screen it is great.
This is an AWESOME monitor, but it is really big. Much bigger than non touch screen options. I would knock it down to a 4 based off size, but I knew it coming in so I figured that wasn't fair. I have actually flown with this twice. Using the ROCCAT TUSCO case and then putting in my suitcase around clothes it has been surprisingly effective. However, to stay under 50 pounds you can't have much else heavy with it at all. The touchscreen works fantastic, the sound is fantastic and just looks great. The only deceptive part is how much more size was needed around the screen, presumably to deal with the touch screen. If you buy the travel case I can say it is good, but not great. It feels like better protection than it probably is, but makes it very easy to carry and protects from scratches. I am excited to say that two flights with this monitor, and being in checked luggage, and it still works perfectly. My existing laptop is not touch screen, so I was excited to add that functionality with a monitor, but if you don't need touch screen I would absolutely go with a different option. I am using Windows 8.1 and everything worked perfectly out of the box. I did install the software that came with this, and it is really pretty cool and has lots of functionality, but also was completely unnecessary. So if you want a plug and play touch screen monitor and you are on Windows 8 this should be a perfect fit.

Utter Piece of Garbage
Spent 45 minutes unpacking and setting up for new computer.Would NOT turn on. Followed all of HP's "genius" troubleshooting steps. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. So, will have to pack this back up, send it back to Amazon and figure what I replace it with. Thanks for nothing HP.Stupid me. Beware what a piece of junk this is.

Mine only lasted 2 years and then the power supply went out!
Mine only lasted 2 years and then the power supply went out and it was on a UPS so had clean power and protected power. Touch was nice feature while it lasted. My monitors usually last 5-6 years - So my cost per year was rather high. Moving to Samsung from now on for better reliability.
