Place the first part the bottom soil in the 5 Gallon White Bucket & Lid - Set of 3 - Durable 90 Mil All Purpose Pail - Food Grade - BPA Free Plastic -usually get 2 sets being a total of 6 buckets and put the seeds on the formula enhanced soil itself with the second part of soil the top soil they grow through.As the soil decreases in moisture the plants are already emerged out from the seeds leaving the remaining amount of liquid content therefor the forming plants with the 3 months supply of the 3 part formula already there.Start the bucket garden inside about the last two to three weeks of winter during the start of early Spring. I have read a ton of reviews on so many potting mixes and blends before choosing BACCTO. I can definitely tell there is a good amount of sandy base to this one but also some good perlite and organic components to it. The bags were a little damp on arrival and had a slight oceanic smell to it.There were a few root cutoffs and sticks but they were few and far between...thankfully.Once I re-potted a few seedlings and watered, I can tell it does hold moisture very well without getting compacted in the process. Very easy to work with.The big question: How will my plants respond to this mix? I am hopeful.PROS: Good moisture retention, soft material, very little compaction issues.CONS: The delivery was BAD.My two 40LB. bags were in two separate boxes...yes boxes. (why not in two shipping bags?)One was leaking but thankfully, very little was lost in transit. Didn't want the hassle of attempting a return on these.

I greatly appreciate the quality of product, convenience of having it delivered in a manageable size quantity, & economically priced.

I love the soil But by the time it arrived to me, the bag was bursted and taped up and there was maybe 25 pounds of dirt in the bag. They had lost half of it. It was a 50 pound bag it was not, surprisingly, in an Amazon bag. It just came in the soil bag, and I am not surprised that it tore because it was very thin.I would order it again, but I would request that it is put in a protective bag before being shipped

This is a wonderful product, moisture retention, planted my seeds, so far so good.
