Makes meal planning easier.
I've been cooking for more than 60 years and took it for granted that I hated it. Surprise! What I hated was deciding -- as in "What shall we have for dinner tonight?" Recently I started a spreadsheet of meals we like to take the decision-making out of the process when along came this little cookbook offer from Amazon. Do we love all the meals? Of course not! But we sure like a lot of them, and they allow modification to be a little healthier if necessary. The biggest plus is the index which lists ingredients not just categories like beef, chicken, fish, etc., since this allows me to find a recipe which will use up something in pantry or refrigerator before it has to be tossed. My new habit is to sit down with this book (and a couple of others with recipes we like!), check out my "use now" ingredients, choose recipes that fit, make my shopping list, and move on. It's a breeze. I recommend this book wholeheartedly!

My family often mistakes it for gourmet cooking
To a serious cook, this is indeed full of easy weeknight dinners. To me, each recipe takes twice as long as advertised, but they're still quick, compared to fine cooking. The recipes are tasty though and ingredients are pretty easy to find, even in today's lazy society. I just ordered a copy for my mom, who is retired, and doesn't consider cooking to be worthwhile, with her living alone. I just hate to see her eating all this frozen crap when she's got even more skills than I do.

Perfect for college students!
My college sophomore son has easily created more than 10 of these meals this summer. His room-mates are impressed, and so am I. I never dreamed he would call me asking what a dutch-oven is and which brand of Crock-Pot he should buy. The ingredient lists are simple, easy layout of meals, good photos and a place for notes. I bought a second copy to keep at my home, several states away, to cook from and to discuss with him as well. So far, everything is delicious, my son claims. Having made the calzones successfully with my teen daughter, I would agree. Recommended for beginner cooks, especially! Heavily geared towards meat-eaters.

Almost nothing in here doesn’t have meat as the main item.
I am not a vegetarian or anything, but I don’t want every single dish in every single meal to be meat. However 98% of the recipes here are very heavily focused on meat. If you’re looking for recipes with vegetables and pasta etc., you might want to different cookbook.

Love the Taste of Home books because the recipes are ...
Love the Taste of Home books because the recipes are real people down-to-earth recipes. Not some snobby fancy stuff that you're hungry after eating and need to look up ingredients and where to buy them.

Great book
Wonderful book. Pictures of all the recipes. This is a paperback version of the book. My older one was destroyed. Highly recommend anything from Taste of Home. Mostly use it for the slow cooker recipes.

This was the very best cook book ever
This was the very best cook book ever, I have been making dinner for over 30 years, this book has been an eye opener! I loved it so much I ordered 6 more for my friends. Every single person who tried a recipe was surprised at the great taste and ease of making it. I wish I heard about this book years ago. Am anxious for the 2nd edition!!

Its american... be prepared to do A LOT of research to find out what ingredients you need in english
Bought this after googling "cook book with normal food".... it came up loads of times in peoples recommendations stating it uses everyday food and nothing too fancy. I am looking through it now and trying to sort out shopping lists for it, however this book is american..... all the measurements are in cups or ounces, which isn't too bad with the help of google to convert.... but what is annoying is the ingredients are obviously american..... i need 1 can (28 ounce) of tomato sauce.... still trying to figure out if it means ketchup or not!Alot of the ingredients used are ready made shop things, that you can only buy in america... (1 envelope zesty italian dressing mix, 1 envelope au jus gravy mix among a few off the top of my head)... the sauces you need for some of these recipes, after googling them, turn out to take longer to make than the actual recipe itself due to not being able to purchase them in england......and a lot of ingredients require precooking before you can start this recipe. It does have some lovely looking food in here, but it's not going to be as easy as just picking it up and doing a shopping list, i'm going to have to google half the ingredients to find out what they actually are in english. Shame
