Installed screws directly into the bottom of two types of shoes
I received the bag of 50 cleats approx. 3 weeks ago.The cleats were screwed directly into the bottom of Asics Gel 2 running shoes and New Balance 966 hiking shoes.1- Running shoesI screwed 4 in front and 4 in the heel area of each shoe. A 1/4" manual hex socket driver was used to screw the screws into the shoe (looks like a screw driver but has a socket head).I have run/walked around a local 3 mile Minneapolis Lake trail several times since receiving the screws. The screws are NOT noticeable to me while walking or running. While walking directly on the frozen lake I feel a little shoe slip before the screws grab. When I run on the ice, there is no slippingThere is a trail around the lake with 2- 4 inches of snow. The snow has been compacted by other runners, cross country skiers and fat tire bikes. While running or walking on this trail. I find good secure traction. So far I have not lost any cleats.2- Hiking shoesI staggered three cleats in the front and three in the heel section of each shoe. There is a nature area near my house which I walk daily. The trails are mild with only slight rises and several wooden steps. The cleats have worked very well especially on the wooden steps which tend to be very slippery. So far, all cleats have remained in place. I do not feel the cleats as I hike.Although I was concerned about wearing the shoes into retail locations, I have gone into several grocery and department stores after my morning run. The commercial floors were not scratched by the cleats. The positive-The cleats installed easilyThey provide a good gripThe negative-The shoes cannot be worn in the house because the cleats will easily scratch and gouge wood, slate or tile floors.

These enable you to walk on water!!
I love my Stabilicers. And yes, with them you can actually and safely walk on water! It must be frozen, though. The secret to their effectiveness is these little cleats. They look like your typical sheet metal screws, but they are hardened steel with sharp edges. They stud the bottoms of Stabilicers and really grab the ice, so long as the cleats are sharp. And here's the love - when the cleats wear out, you just replace them with these new babies. Voile! Like-new ice-gripping power! I used to use ice gripper walkie things that were named after the footprints of a large shaggy bovine (gnot a gnu!) and when they got dull I had to buy a new pair. A bag of these cleats is enough to effectively renew a pair of Stabilicers twice (each foot has 17 cleats, but I find that they don't wear out at the same rate so I only need to replace 10 or 12 at a time). I'm still on my 1st pair of Stabilicers, which are made of what looks to be recycled tire tread and will probably last forever, but now I'm on my 2nd bag of cleats, Much cheaper than buying the other brand of grippers over and over again, and besides, Stabilicers really work! Just ask your friendly postal worker. As a bonus, if you ever need to do emergency repairs on your furnace ducts or rain gutters, these will fix you up.

These are the best anti ice soles available
These are the best anti ice soles available. I'm letter carrier in a Chicago suburb and it gets real bad with ice here. I've tried other anti slip soles and they failed. They either offer no traction and slip off in the snow. The yak trax brand gave out in 3 days! I think yak trax are meant for a quick walk or for ice fishing. None the less after 18 hrs they were useless. The Stableicers are a different story, heavy duty soles that strap around your boot/shoe tip and around your ankles, both by heavy duty Velcro straps. No cheap, flimsy metal coils. These have steel screws that screw in to the nubs on the sole. I have never slipped on ice or hard packed frozen snow. I have actually tried to slip on slick, smooth wet ice and couldn't . The screws really bite in to ice and snow. The only drawback is you do have to replace the screws twice a week or so, depending how long and often you wear them. They don't get dulled out on ice, they would last a lot longer if that were the case. No they get dulled out on the concrete and blacktop. On really icey days you have no choice if you don't want to go crashing to the ground. You can replace the screws easily by using a screw driver and install just as easy. Extra screws are available fairly cheap on Amazon. If you are looking for the best in anti ice foot wear these are the ones.

Replacement - Easy, General traction- very good, But......
I bought the replacement cleats for my STABILicer Maxx ice cleat system. With it's thick rubber souls & 2 Velcro straps the Maxx system is superior to all the rubber stretch-on systems for two reasons- 1) They attach firmly to my boots every time I strap them on- No slipping off in tough conditions, 2) They last way longer- Multiple years. Even though they are easy to replace, I gave the replacement cleats 4 stars, because they give only fair traction on glare ice- On packed snow, ice covered snow & slightly pitted ice, traction is excellent. Actually, I've yet to find the perfect cleat. Tungston carbide cleats provide excellent traction on glare ice, but scratch concrete & ceramic tile. So far STABILicer Maxx is the best all around system I've used- I intend to keep using them.
