TED's a 10
My power bill was getting out of hand ($700 range) in a new house I purchased. I researched different things to use to monitor the power. I originally bought one of the small Kill-A-Watt monitors that you could plug into an outlet and monitor energy on that outlet. That wasn't giving me the information I wanted so I purchased the TED Pro Home System. I've been extremely happy with the purchase. I also purchased the TED Spyder 20 and the TED Spyder 60 at the same time. While expensive for all 3, I've been happy with the amount of information it provides. I'm usually pretty handy and had no problem installing the device in my breaker panel. This can be very dangerous, so if you're not comfortable with working with extremely high voltages, have an electrician do it for you. I originally had a few issues to iron out and contacted their customer support via email. I guessed it would be days before hearing a response. This company is great! I would receive responses within 15 minutes sometimes, and never later than the next day if it were a weekend (They should pay that guy more). We traded probably 20 emails and my issues were resolved, either by changing settings within the software, or correcting my own error hooking up the Spyders. I get very accurate results from the equipment. The only thing that I can't get to calculate correctly is the energy price, but that is no fault of TED; my power company has so many fees, recovery costs, taxes, surcharges, and the like that I haven't been able to put everything in. Not that the TED is not capable, it is very configurable with regards to the utility settings, I just haven't had time to sit down with a calculator, slide rule, and a magic 8 ball to figure out how the power company is charging me.The website is very informative by providing information and videos on installation and using the product. I highly recommend watching them all, some multiple times, to be sure you hook the system up correctly. The only negative about the website is it is hard to find firmware updates, but a simple email to the support team provides you with the information in less than a day.The only other negative I can point to is the CT's, or the things that monitor the individual circuit, can be fragile at the point where the wire connects to the Spyder. It is a little connector that the wire attaches to and fits into the Spyder. I pulled the wire out of one while trying to configure it and had to order another one. It was pretty cheap, and I received it in a few days. If I had installed the device correctly the first time, I would have no reason to unplug it, thus pulling the wire out, but I did, and it broke, and that's a negative...but not enough to lose a star. My bad.I highly recommend this product if you want to monitor your home power usage. I have mine set up to monitor from the web, my phone, or my home computer. Great product, great customer service.

Great upgrade from the prior TED 5000 install I had
Great upgrade from the prior TED 5000 install I had. Polls the MTUs every second vs every 5. With the 5000 I also had to monkey with it, turn off noise blanking etc to get a solid signal. Ted PRO really is much better, solid lockup 100% of the time, no monkeying.I have Pro, 2 MTUs to monitor 2 panels and Spyder. Best detailed power monitoring system out there.---Update: After little more than a year I've had multiple systems failures. Took almost 2 months to get replacement under warranty of Spyder that failed, company was very challenging to deal with. Now MTU failure on top of that.. Going to look into Sitesage product....Much more expensive but hopefully actually works. Time to troubleshoot this product with almost NO support from manufacturer isn't worth it.Final update: After 20+ hours of troubleshooting with mixed support from TED they offered me my money back, which I accepted. So kudos to them for supporting my issues in the end. Still unhappy with product but if you can deal with poor technical support (or hopefully don't need it at all) it is a good product.

The TED5000 provided much useful information but the installation cost in terms of time ...
As a long time user of TED5000 I was somewhat skeptical about purchasing the TED6000. The TED5000 provided much useful information but the installation cost in terms of time was fairly significant. It seems that most of the shortcomings of the TED5000 has been rectified:1. No longer do I have to search for an optimal location for the gateway (or now the Energy Control Center) (It appears now that the MTUs provides a stronger signal).2. Installation instructions have been significantly improved. In all a significant improvement over TED5000 and a valuable investment if you need accurate forecasting of your monthly energy utilization.UPDATE: Encountered some basic problems with the equipment TED provided. Contacted the "help desk" several times with conflicting answers. As a result the system is useless. Cutting review to 1 star (or less). Hardware going in the trash.

Basically it's a great idea, but the quality is lax
I purchased this about 1 1/2 years ago. I purchased the spyder add on and have 8 circuits connected. Basically it's a great idea, but the quality is lax...The software is what I'd classify as "hackware". It works, but it's clunky and buggy. The graphic page is ok, but any changes in format requires a data reload. This makes it slow. With the spyder attachment, it can graph 8 individual circuits plus the main circuit. But I've had it hang after plotting just some of the data. Or it will not plot all of the curves (circuits) on the graph (sometimes none, sometimes just one, sometimes most but not all). It is supposed to be capable of plotting the main circuit with 1 second resolution from 30 seconds to 1 hour. It does this, but sometimes it doesn't plot all the data. For example, it will plot just 10-12 minutes worth on a "1-hour" plot. It is supposed to be capable of plotting all circuits (9 of them) with 1 minute resolution. Usually, this works just fine, but sometimes it only plots part of the data, or it will show the data, but it is clear that the resolution is not 1 minute... It is closer to two minutes. The unit lets you download data for plotting in excel. Doing so reveals a lot of "doubles". Where the data is exactly the same for two minutes in a row. This is insanely unlikely. Other times the data is unchanging for a longer duration (like one hour). There is a 1 hour resolution mode, and it appears to be plotting this data. Keep in mind that the unit works properly most of the time (at least greater than 50% of the time) but it seems some hiccup happens somewhere for the balance of time.
