Great Book
Another great book by my FAVORITE author.....It took me a while to get into this book....I wasn't sure if I would like it....I would pick it up read a few pages put it down, pick it up again a week or 2 later and try again...finally I told myself you love this author (and paid for this book)....sit down and give it a change and so I did (last week)....after you get through the first 20 (more or less) pages it is well worth it...Another great story line.....as I have said in other reviews I don't give details about the story line...I think enough of it is given before you purchase the book and when you download the sample...I will just tell you I have been reading her books for over 30 years and have loved them all....my advise would be to start out with the Kadin and/or the Skye O'Malley Series....Happy Reading!

Still one of the best regency novels ever written!
Still one of the best regency period romance novels ever written....right up there with Whitney My Love....if you've not read this novel but read WML...and loved it...you've been living in the dark ages. Beatrice Small focuses too much on food....but you can easily skip that into PARADISE reading romance. I've read almost a thousand books...this one and WML still battle for first place. The best of the best of the BEST!

old book still a great read
the book was amazing.the setting in Russia was just great, and and i loved the chemistry between Miranda and Jared.Miranda Dunham has been raised on Wyndsong, an island off the coast on Connittucut , and along the way, came to believe that she would inherit Wyndsong when her father died. However, that is not the case, since she is female. A distant cousin, named Jared Dunham is set to inherit, and Miranda is devastated. Even more so when her father is accidently shot and killed or their way home from England. As it turns out, the ship belongs to none other then Jared, the cousin set to inherit. It's one of his men who, believing the older man had a gun, shot Miranda's father. With him dead, Jared is suddenly thrust into his inheritance much earlier then he'd hoped. But, he's in love with Miranda, so his marries her. All goes well for a time, and then, like in all Bertrice Small's novels, adventure ensues! it's quite a read, very enjoyable. Taking you from Early 1800s England to Russia, and back again.

Unconquered
Beatrice Small never disappoints but for over 20 yrs of reading romance this book has remained forever my favorite. Unconquered, was the book that I began to compare all other books too. It has a slow start but those who stick with it will b well rewarded with an unforgettable story;)
