Works wonderfully in Anchorage, Alaska
XMS does not market the service in Alaska, too far north and west (plus Anchorage has a mountain range that creates a shadow). All the TV satellite dishes here point at the SE horizon. No local retailers support XMS. I bought a Yamaha RX-797 receiver that was XMS ready. However, I was unable to buy this unit in Alaska (and many other online retailers refused to ship it to me here). So, I ordered it from Amazon. The unit from Amazon arrived, I hooked it up, pointed it southeast (through a wall) and immediately got XMS Preview. The signal is clear as a bell.I am a happy man!

Not a problem in over 18 months (well no more XM hurts).
I used this thing on my Samsung surround sound system and it worked like a dream. I placed in my South facing window (ample length on the cord) and voila! No problems at all listening to my favorite XM shows up until December 08, when I canceled the XM subscription (will probably pick it up again in Jan).

I have not been able to get a good signal with this devise
I have not been able to get a good signal with this devise. It appears to be older technology. Even after significant time with SirusXM, poor quality on all non-talk stations.

It works if you can find and afford one!!!
When I bought my Timex XM radio it clearly stated that it needed a separate antenna. What was NOT divulged was the it is nearly impossible to find one.....the Audiovox CNP1000 is (LIKE THE RADIO) out of production. Used/surpus units are skyrocketing in price, especially here. To quote Joey Trebiani, "SUPPOSABLY, the CNP2000 and 2000H will work also. Elmer Fudd would caution you to be "vewwy vewwy careful"....the Timex requires the CNP1000 with the "D" shaped connector, not the round connector found almost universally...... SO....buy and stockpile as many of these as you can....i'm looking for a second one so I can move my radio from cabin to home easily.I think 70-100$ is a ripoff but oh well.....

Great idea - but sound quality suffers
I have an XM-ready Onkyo SR-603X, and bought a Connect and Play, since I love XM so much in my car. Setup was easy, I got a signal quickly, but the sound quality is poor. When I listen to DVDs, CDs, my iPod, even FM radio on my Onkyo, they all sound great. XM, however is a big disappointment in sound quality, even though my signal strength is over 80% (70% is recommended). It sounds nowhere near as "full" or detailed as I was expecting.Listen before you buy and be careful.

Wanted: View of Western Sky!
This antenna is very "directional." Despite the way it is advertised, it needs to be pointed toward the Western sky with no obstructions (its ok through a glass window). Pointing it any other way gives you intermittent, or no reception.
