Works great with the network but I couldn't get a phone number because they haven't gotten access to Washington numbers.

Awesome buy for a secondary/backup phone
I've bought a few of these phones. For the price, i'd give it 5 stars.Advantages: rootable, fairly performant for a budget phone, no major bugs or problems with the phone itself encountered. If you don't like freedompop, you can take it to sprint or ting or other sprint MVNO's instead for improved service and no freedompop "weirdness". The battery is replaceable and you can install an SD card. Battery life is decent (depends on usage of course).Drawbacks: RAM and internal storage are on the small side. Rooting and removing sprint garbage helps the first part, and storage can be augmented with a big SD card. If you store data on SD, there is about 4gb internal space for apps. The IR remote function is crippled compared to the app used on the G2 (there is no way to swap the IR app or use a different one). The phone isnt all that popular so don't expect to find a lot of custom roms (there are some but no huge improvements over the stock ROM).Additional comments: Rooting takes a few steps but works fine, and is worth it to me for the purpose of creating full backups and being able to remove bloated stock apps. I've even got a desktop linux with full non-mobile firefox installed on SD card and it runs well enough to be usable, but the small RAM size does start to become an issue for advanced use cases like that.Overall I recommend it as a secondary phone with freedompop (who doesnt like free service?) but I would suggest using ting with it if service quality, especially voice and mobile coverage area, is unsatisfactory.

Caveat Emptor
To FreedomPoop "Certified refurbished" means the scotch tape on a phone has been removed, but the adhesive remains. The staffing at FreedomPop are not versed in English, if you can find their phone number and connect to customer support. The idea on FreedomPop is good, but the execution ... like dealing with Hell's gatekeeper. Oh ... and returning a phone being dissatisfied with the product: expect a $40 S/H charge deducted from the purchase.

It's been just over one year and we now finally realized that this is A LOCKED PHONE, despite being advertised as unlocked. We are not unable to transfer phone service because it is locked to Sprint, for which FreedomPop is essentially the prepaid service provider. If they tell you the phone is unlocked, they are lying.

This is pathetic. It's a joke
The phone is ok, Freedompop is not. First, I had an Iphone with them that just stopped working. After no less than 5 transfers and over an hour on the phone Freedompop finally told me their network doesn't support my phone anymore. I buy a new phone (this phone) and try to swap IMEI numbers. NO DEAL. They don't do that. I have to have a new account...with a new email address...everything different. Even though Freedompop advertises plans at monthly rates, they actually charge your credit card 1x (monthly plan x12). I asked what happens to the funds I've paid for service on the iphone and haven't used. IT IS GONE...BYE, NO REFUND, NOTHING. I need a phone so I attempt to activate the LG Volt. Can't do it. Another 2 hours on the phone with Freedompop and 7 transfers later, I'm told there is a problem with the new phone but assured it's on their end. Someone will get back to me in 24 hrs. After 48 hrs I called again. Another 1.5 hrs on the phone and several transfers, I find out the phone can't be activated because the previous owner owes Freedompop money. WTF? Freedompop sold me the phone. They finally resovled the issue, the phone gets activated....and I still can't get service. Multiple calls to Freedompop and nothing gets resolved. This is pathetic. It's a joke, a really bad joke.
