Because I'm Your Dad Board book – Picture Book, April 12, 2016

Little one loves this book so much and demands it stay in consistent rotation for bedtime stories. This is our second copy as the first was loved to book death and had to be retired.Bottom line: Well-loved book for kids who love their dads. Warning, back-to-back readings may ensue.

I bought the Hardcover version and I’m glad I did so I could personalize it - see note at end!So this arrived today for Fathers Day :D. I read the reviews and was ready to fix “the end of the book situation”. Since my husband’s father left his mom when he found out she was pregnant and he’s never met his Bio-Dad, the men his mom married as he was growing up we’re also never fatherly towards him. SO I used acrylic paints to cover up the words “thats what my dad did for me” and painted in “I love you both so much!” - since we have 2 babies :) The acrylic dried quickly and if you’d like to keep the paint from getting scratched, you can always smooth a thin coat of modpodge over the area!Bonus: I traced both our kids’ handprints on the inside of the front cover and they wrote their own names inside them and I added their current ages <3 I also wrote “Happy Fathers Day 2018 We love you Daddy!”

My daughter loves this book. She calls me monster daddy, and she's my little monster. So this was perfect for our dynamic.The story is cute. Loads of sweetness and fun/entertaining art work.If you are a dedicated single dad or just a good daddy, I would advise getting this book for your kiddo.I would advise a trigger warning, as the story ends with saying that the monster dad in the story does all the great things listed off throughout the story because his dad did that for him.As my dad did not do that for me or make me feel that way, it brought a teary eye for me.But please, dead beat dads need not bother looking at this book as a present for your kid you never see or try for.

Easily my favorite book to read to my daughters at bedtime. We've read it so many times that I have it memorized. I even gifted a copy to another new dad and will probably gift it to another. Perfect length, fun illustrations, great read.

I bought this for my son to read to his baby. It’s nice to have books that are not just for mommy and baby.

If you're looking for a book for a silly, fun dad to read to his child, this is a great choice. This book definitely focuses on the fun and funny in a father. It does not reflect on a strict or rule abiding dad, with ideas like eating pasta in the bathtub and skipping school to go to the city and eat hot dogs. Also great for a fun dad who travels for work, or even for a dad who is not with his child full time, as there is a part about dad going away and missing the child The whole time. Also great for a musician dad as there is a part about playing rock music really loud. The message is fun with cool dad, and let's face it...the Fun Dad stereotype is one that many dads embrace. There is one more sentimental part about a dad carrying child home when he or she is sleepy. The book is written in the dad's voice which is nice for a father reading to child. Characters slide to a son but could be a girl too.This is the kicker, and the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 since it will make or break this book for some. The story is of a father listing all the things he will do for his son because he's his dad, and it ends with him saying that he'll do all these things because that's what HIS dad did for him. You can imagine the various situations in which this ending might not be appropriate. My father in law passed away many years ago and I didn't know how my husband would react to this ending (and didn't know about this ending when I ordered the book) but it made him love the book all the more. I suppose it might be a good way for him to introduce our son to the idea of his late grandfather. That will be his decision to make. That said, I could see how this ending would be fabulous for some, but limiting to others whose fathers have passed or are estranged or they are simply not close with.Love the artwork in this book. Cute and engaging and comical, just enough color and movement to be interesting and fun without being so bright and loud that my 5 month old gets hyped up looking at it before bed.All in all, for us, a great book, touching and fitting for dads whose strong suit is fun. Not appropriate for everyone.

I purchased this for my husband to read to our 18 month old. She loves reading time with her daddy, and he especially enjoys reading Daddy related books. The story itself is short and very cute. It only took him a few minutes to read it to her so she's able to squeeze a couple read throughs out of him before bed time. Also, I ordered the board book so her little fingers could help turn the pages without ripping them. The illustrations or colorful and fun to also provide visual appeal for our little one.

By far the cutest dad book we have read yet!It important to note that it might not fit everyone's story the same way. All activities might not be something you do with your child, but if you know a dad who has unconditional love for their child and was supported in the same way by their father, it's a book definitely worth reading with your little babe.
