Worked great to improve pipe flow after miserable toilet clog - good value!
I had a horrible toilet clog (and will spare you the details) that required an epic snake cleaning by a plumber at a very high cost. This was a basement toilet in a house with 65-year cast iron drain pipes that surely have narrowed with rust and whatever organic crud has gathered. After the plumber left, the toilet was flowing well, but a contractor friend pointed out there still was probably lots of organic buildup in the pipe -- i.e., the plumber broke through and largely displaced material clogging the pipe, leaving much other "stuff" behind. He suggested I try an enzyme/bacteria based product to help clear buildup in the pipe and hopefully avoid future clogs.I just want to report that I used this product as specified - very simple, as you put down a cup or so down toilet and flush each of 4 nights. I'm convinced it did something good, in the toilet flow improved noticeably - was good before I applied product but really seemed better after the four-day treatment. At $8 a bottle, I'm definitely going to use this every 3 months or so in my house and may rotate around some of the drains in the house, figuring it will help with pipes on the way to the main drain, in addition to the main drain itself.Recommended!

Does not work for hard deposits
This product will work fine for hair and organic material buildup, but most safe drain cleaners including this one will not clear hard mineral or corrosion deposits. The problem with this one and why most drain cleaners will get a 3/5 is due to the ambiguity these cleaners advertise, which isto be able to simply clear your drain with a general picture of buildup, this is not the case and will work half the time for most people buying these products. This one gets 4 stars because it's the most affordable product in the market of drain cleaners. Try this one first before forking over 20+ dollars on another product, they're all essentially similar.

Using For Rehabbing 1960's Townhouse Drains
(skip ahead to SO WITH THIS PRODUCT if you have better things to do then relive a 1980s crutchfield catalog with this review)Purchased several bottles of this Main Line Roebic to Rehab several Drains in my "new to me" c. 1969 Townhouse.Over just 2 months living here, I've noticed a lot of Plumbing Company Trucks coming and going in the condo complex.Previous owners of my unit were not exactly maintenance conscious. The place was disgustingly dirty, and I had to replace HVAC, water heater, all appliances, $10K in flooring, and a badly rotting patio fence. And then a same building neighbor told me that the drainage plumbing in our complex is not the best. It's like spaghetti in some places, and the complex installed low flow Loos years ago. Thus the plumbing trucks spotted around every week. The trucks all have bright, cartoonlike graphics so it's impossible to NOT see the trucks.SO WITH THIS PRODUCT, I'm Rehabbing the main drain line first. The main drain line is a shared line / shared with with a neighbor who's usually out of town for weeks at a time. It's crucial that the neighbor's gone, if I wanna ensure nobody flushes for 6 hours. So on the shared wall drain, I've been doing a 1/2 bottle in the loo, every night or every other night. That's to hopefully clean out our shared drain for 2 Bathrooms + 2 Kitchens.I usually let it sit 6-10 hours total.1/2 bottle might seem like overkill. But 2 households using a shared line is A LOT of stress on the line over 55 years. After 1-2 treatments of 1/2 bottle per day,... I'll probably cut back to 4 treatments per bottle.IM HOPING this will help clean out our shared wall drain, and whatever's between our front doors to the main underground city sewer line.AFTER SPENDING WAY TOO MUCH TIME skimming over all the products on Amazon, Roebic seems to be the top tier or top 2-3 products.IT'S HARD TO KNOW FOR SURE what's happening inside drains you cannot see.But a good number of reviewers are saying that plumbers dig this brand as one of the few that works.I'd rather use what the plumbers use, and not have to play a plumber $300 + potential damage to walls and floors.SEPARATE FROM THIS PRODUCT,I'll be using 3 $20 bottles of Roebic soap blaster.First bottle for the kitchen drain which is kinda slow. Am I the only person who drains grease into jars? When the prior owners of your new place neglected proper maintenance, it's a good bet they never took those extra steps.Second Bottle will be for the Laundry Wall Drain. Laundry drains always back up when you don't drain into a nylon capped hose, into a separate utility sink. When I have a side sink to drain into, the nylon always clogs up within 2 weeks. THAT'S A LOT IF LINT.Third Bottle will be used on my shower, which is part of the shared drain I rehabbed first. It's been stubbornly slow and I'm hoping this willAltogether, approx $100-$120 worth of Roebic for an inaugural treatment cycle. To put my mind at ease given the brightly colored plumbing trucks drama.Hopefully I'm doing this all in the correct order.I already went through 2 bottles of the Drano for the Kitchen sink and Shower, and it didn't do enough.

Works, but takes too long to apply
Our old lateral drain line started backing up into the basement regularly after our old toilet was replaced with a low flow toilet. I used Roebic as a preventative after getting the drain line cabled and jetted twice. It probably works great, but the recommended application is to dump cup of it in the toilet, flush, and then avoid running water for 6 hours. That would work where everyone in the house goes to work or school during the day or sleeps at the same time all night long. If they're retired, have different sleep schedules, and rarely go out together for 6 hours at a time, opportunities to use it even once, let alone 4 days in a row, are rare. Monthly use for preventive maintenance would require finding those opportunities every month. If you can follow that schedule or are in a situation that doesn't require frequent use, it could work with old plumbing if you have a high flow or pressure assist low flow toilet. It could also work if you have a new drain line. For me, though, no matter how well it works, it's too time consuming to apply.

Waste of money
Completely useless & a waste of money.Didn't even unclog a small bathroom sink. Used it twice over a day (most other products usually do completely get rid of it) and I see absolutely no effect (can still see the clog). How can something THAT ineffective clear the main line unclogged?I ended up ordering Liquid Plumber to do the job. Truly, this product was money down the drain!!!
