Biology: Life on Earth with Physiology (10th Edition) 10th Edition

I'm giving this book "5 stars" because there is nothing wrong with it, and it looks great. I bought it brand new because when I was looking at used copies, the descriptions said something like, "The used version may or may not contain web access codes, or supplemental CDs."And since I'm homeschooling 8 kids, ages 14-baby, I thought I would invest in a brand new copy with any and all supplemental material.Since I got the book a few days ago, I looked through it, and it didn't come with any CDs, it didn't come with any "web access codes." And it didn't say it came with any, either, so that's OK. But as far as I can tell, there is NO reason to buy it brand new.Then I took it a step further: I compared the Table of Contents to my 14-year old Biology 100 text book I used when I was a student at BYU. (Same class that I occasionally took my baby to, who is now my teenager!) I bought THAT book brand-new at the time, and it has been sitting on my bookshelf for 14 years, waiting for a reason to open it again.The two books cover the SAME material, SAME Unit Topics, etc., up to a point, this book does contain "with physiology," as well as LOTS of "case studies," that are short stories dealing with topics in biology. Two different authors, publishers, etc. But the basic college Biology class really hasn't changed at all in 14 years. That's reassuring. But also, my point is: you probably don't need the most "up to date book," either, if you are just looking for a basic Biology text book.I would be curious to see if one book is an "easier read" than the other, but at this point I haven't taken the time to read both books, and compare that. They are both text books, enough said. But I will be primarily using my NEW text book, as it does contain the most up-to-date information.As far as homeschooling goes, I really don't have a clue what I'm doing, this is my first year homeschooling my kids. My older kids have attended a charter school in the past, and have covered a LOT of biology already, so I was going to do my best to cover what might be on the AP Biology exam, and hopefully get them ready for that test this Spring. If anybody has any suggestions for me, I'd appreciate it!

This was the required text for my community college "General Biology" class. I found it to be an excellent and easy to understand textbook. Very readable. It had 2-3 times more material than was covered in the lectures, as well. Good explanatory sidebars, excellent end-of-chapter reviews.I missed an entire week of lectures, crammed from the book the night before the test, and still got 95%.

I love the electronic format for textbooks. It is so easy to navigate to the table of contents or index and go right to the information I need instead of thumbing through page after page. The search function is also helpful. Also, I can take my Kindle anywhere I go so that when I have some extra time, I can study. Not so with a huge biology textbook!

Text book, great prices

This is an incredibly well written biology textbook that is also very easy to digest. I preferred it over Campbell's Biology!!!

Solid book to grasp general biology knowledge. High school level.

Had to take 2 semesters of Bio class and didn't want to pay the nearly $300 cost of the two binder version my course was selling. So I bought this one instead. Didn't let me down. Though some of the material in chapter 13 is a tad bit outdated.Good luck!~

Bought it used but the binding is falling apart. It could hardly hold the pages together
