Inexpensive and worked great!
This worked great for me. I inserted the small end in the chamber and closed the bolt on it, then cycled the gun and it pulled the broken shell out trapped on the tool. Unscrewing the threaded end piece allowed me to take the broken shell off. I will keep this in my range box for sure. Note that there have been a couple reviews talking about the tool bending on use. The only way I could see that happening is to have put the tool in backwards. I noticed one of the product photos appears to show doing just that. The small end goes into the chamber! It works just fine if you use it right.

Easy to use and takes seconds...
I had a case that broke in half in my AR-15 chamber. I soaked the chamber over night in CLP lubricant and then the UTG extractor came in the mail. I didn't even break down my AR, just locked the bolt to the rear, tightened the two pieces of the extractor hand tight, inserted into chamber by hand, dropped the bolt by using the CHARGING HANDLE as to lessen the force of the bolt slamming into the extractor. Tapped the forward assist (sorry Eugene Stoner) and pulled back on the charging handle to find the broken case captured on the tool. I then unscrewed the extractor at the same time as I had the charging handle back and all the pieces came out. Took under a minute at most.

Materials not terribly strong but works well
Had the front third of a 5.56 cartridge break of in the chamber of my Galil. When I first ran it, it was a bit wide to get through the neck and slightly bent the shaft of the tool. I was able to bend it back straight and reduce the head size at which point it got it out in one good pull.

If you have and AR-15 you need one of these. You will have a shell that will brake. This tool is very easy to use. I suggest you have one with you in the field.

Only good for 223. Not for variants.
I tried to use it on a 6mm AR case. It didn't work.

Broke and didn’t even extract
Followed the process for separated case removal. 4 things happened within 3 tries of use. Metal bent and had to be bend back straight, expanding flange got stuck expanded and stayed that way, rim of extractor on the product was sheared off and stuck in gun, and I was throughly aggravated. So just ordered a better quality one from Brownells….. save yourself the trouble and buy a better product, oh and disregard idiots who give 5 stars for something they have never even used yet.
