I have been working for years trying to make my home 'smart' and lights seemed like a good entry point. If you have ever looked at swapping out all of your bulbs for a smart system, you know that the choices and decisions can be quite daunting. For the money, the Wiz line of products is very hard to beat. The price is way better than Hue, and the performance is much better than some of the other brands, especially when looking for multi-colored bulbs.Pros:* Cost - these things are relatively cheap* No base station - there is none required. That is a huge benefit, as it reduces the overall cost* Lots of colors - Playing with the colors and creating various scenes is really fun.* The app is easy to use - the app is pretty easy to use, once you figure out some of its quirks. If you are someone who give up when something doesn't work exactly like you think it should on your first attempt, you might want to reconsider this purchase (or any sort of smart home purchases until the tech matures a bit further, to be honest).Making groups and setting up your various rooms is really easy. Even controlling lights in groups within each room is as easy as drag and dropThings I wish were better:* Rhythms - While Rhythms are a cool idea, it just really doesn't work like I think it should. It gets confused if a switch is inadvertently turned off during a rhythm, and then starts over. It can be a bit of a pain to remove a rhythm if you have any sort of network issue* 2.4Ghz only - I know that this is extremely common for most smart devices these days, but these will only work on a 2.4Ghz wifi band. This can become aggravating when you have a multi-band wifi where all of the networks share a name. Getting your devices to all talk to the 2.4 band can be challenging. It's not impossible, but it may be a frustrating experience for some.Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend this brand to anyone who wants to incorporate smart light bulbs into their home but doesn't want to break the bank at the same time.

Bulb connects are works great. I enjoy having these so I can easily set timers for when I am away from home

The new Wiz 2.0 app makes this super easy to connect (i.e. it just connects automatically when you enable it in the app - no QR code). While it is a positive that they've improved the color and brightness of this model, older generations simply do not match up, so if you're replacing an old bulb in an area with other, older generation bulbs, you will notice a difference.

An array of preset light schemes and comes with the ability to create your on scapes with detailed colors, and mood preferences. Installation is as easy as screwing in a light bulb. The Wiz app isn’t the greatest when connecting but that doesn’t affect the product itself. One of the best quality smart bulbs on the market.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I believed this product’s specs and functionality were as needed. Initially things went well, it arrived as expected and in a timely manner. Installation was a breeze, things went as expected and shortly after receiving the product we were satisfied. Automation was setup so that lights turned on for a few hours after sunset.However, things stopped working shortly after. The app did not recognize the lights so a re-installed a few times without any results. Thinking that this was a lemon and one-off, I proceeded with a second purchase.Arrival and installation worked as expected, however the bulb began malfunctioning again. Reinstallation and troubleshooting did not provide results. Currently I am down two lights and unsure if I will give Biz another try with this.

Easy set up

When these bulbs work, they work real well and are great! However, if there are any issues - say a power or internet outage - these bulbs take forever to reconnect. However, the worst is if you change networks and restart the pairing process. The pairing process is just a pain - whether using the automatic or manual mode. It is kind of a hit / miss as to whether or not the process works and often in manual mode; the bulb does not connect via AP mode. The Tapos and GE Cyncs are much better at recovery and offer similar, if not, better performance over these Wiz products.
