Celestron Nexstar+ Hand Control EQ

Haven’t yet had a good chance to run it through its paces but seems to work fine. My original one had a fading a funky read out so was pretty much not useable.

I accidentally ordered two but the one that I am using is perfect works excellent!!

In order for iit to work with my mount i need to download firmware and them it may work. This is involved and requires other hardware and software to accomplish this

Item arrived in Ecuador in perfect condition.

The product arrived well and was easy to upgrade.

This is my third letter to Celestron customer service that did not receive a response:I bought this CPC 800 in 2009 and I never used the NexStar to find objects up until now . Well it doesn't work. In fact it couldn't even locate its current position automatically and numerous attempts to align the telescope has failed. Celestron tech support told me the the only way to fix this was to shell out another $120 for the NexStar+. I did that and guess what....IT DOESEN'T WORK! In fact your "support" web site (if you can call it that) doesn't work either. I can't download the CFM. I clicked on the CFM manager link and it does nothing. Judging form all of the complaints I've seen in the Celestron forums I'm not alone. Your update instructions clearly state that all I need to do is to plug the controller into my computer and run the CFM. Perhaps someone at Celestron can try this to see if it works for them! I have the latest version of windows 10 installed, all the latest java updates, all of my usb controllers have been updated, and I even bought a new usb data cable. Look I paid close to 2 grand for this back in 2009 and it can't even track the moon! I want this fixed and I want to speak to someone in tech support until it is fixed. I DO NOT want to "speak" to someone through an ultra-lame chat site. OK? Don't make me wish I bought a MEADE!If anyone is thinking of buying a telescope consider a Meade!

A couple of weeks ago, I set my Celestron Nexstar 8SE up outside in preparation for a nice night of star and planet viewing after having seen that the weather was supposed to be partly cloudy, but no rain. Never EVER believe the weather forecast. I went out for dinner and on the way home, it was pouring. After drying things out and turning the unit on, I got error messages on my handset. I wasn't sure if the handset was bad or the circuit board inside the mount was bad, or both. After some Google searches, it appeared the most likely problem was the handset. I purchased this new handset, plugged it in, said a few prayers, and everything worked. I also purchased a waterproof, heavy duty cover for the scope. I will never take chances with the weather again.

I honestly don’t know if my cpc1100 has other problems or if the unit came in damaged. It was hanging out of the box with zero padding. Either way it does not work right now. Upgraded to 4 stars as the power cord was the problem.
