Simple enough and no more tying my shoes!
It probably took me 10 mins or so to get these installed. Idk why a lot of the other reviews said it took them so long. Also, the instructions are super easy to follow. You literally lace them up like a regular set of laces. It's the end that can get a little tricky. Here are my suggestions. 1) after you get the laces on, put the shoes on and tighten them up the way you like them. 2) Tie the knot so that the knot hits the center of the shoe on both sides (when you get it that step, you'll know what I'm talking about). 3) cut and tie them slightly looser than you think you want.. You can always go back and cut more but once it's gone it's gone. Maybe even walk a few steps to make sure before you cut. 4) Then knot that puppy, melt the end with a lighter, and screw the metal pieces together! You'll have to use a little elbow grease to straighten the lace back out but it's not terribly difficult. 5) And last but not least, don't stress too much about it. They're $6! Way cheaper than others I've seen out there. So I just got these today and like them so far. If I decide they're anything less than 5 stars after some wear, I'll update my rating. I hope this helps! Enjoy!

Works as expected - best part is not what you'd expect
OK so they are stretchy shoelaces. Look almost exactly like a normal shoelace. Cut to fit and the barrel connector are fine. Length is more than ample (that's wha- never mind). BUT HERE IS THE BEST PART!Everyone who has ever cut any string/rope/shoelace has at least once used a match or lighter to melt the end. It's just a thing people do. The included instructions actually tell you to do this and literally have a picture of someone using a lighter to melt their cut shoelace. And... (here's the best part) there are ZERO legalese statements about this. None. Not 4 pages of undecipherable nonsense, not even one word. They don't even say "carefully" (but they do point out that neither the lighter nor the scissors are included, which is awesome). Why don't they even say "carefully"? Because EVERYONE already does this. "Don't be a careless idiot when melting your shoelace", doesn't need to be said. "Hot coffee is hot".If nothing else, 5 stars for not involving any lawyers at all.

Extremely complicated to setup, hard to adjust well
But once setup it works fine. Just make sure you:1. Insert lace through all holes2. Insert the two metal clips outwards3. Make a knot outside the clips, to lock the clips on to the “inside” of the laces, far enough that the clips can just touch each other. TEST holding the clips together to mimic how tight it will feel, there’s no going back once you cut!4. Cut the extra lace, leaving a bit of lace past each knot5. Use a match or lighter to melt each end of the lace, to get rid of the messy strings stuff (ask an adult before using fire)6. Screw the two clips togetherAnd you’re done. So, extremely hard to setup, and it’s also tricky to tell how tight it will actually be, but… otherwise it’s great (you’ve been advised).

A good conversion for sneakers
I wear several pairs of New Balance w/features that really help after having a full ankle rebuild. Unfortunately, the styles all come with traditional laces and I'm not so young & flexible. One pair had laces far too long. So I thought I'd experiment w/a "no-tie" fix. These were quite reasonable in price. So I swapped these laces in. So far so very, very good. They retain my foot in the shoe well so I get the intended benefits of the NB motion control, arch support & heel cup. It might be even better fit than before since tying was sometimes difficult to do as well as needed. It seems to create better more consistent tensioning from bottom to top of lacing.Installation was easy once you get the feel for tying off the lace at the right spot to create desired tension and to also fit inside the turnbuckle.Installed these laces look a little thinner than the original flat sneaker laces. I'd prefer if the laces were just a bit wider to appear more like traditional flat laces, but that's a minor quibble.I'll buy more!
