Epic Razor
I started out with an Edwin Jagger DE89 but I nearly always ended up with nicks and irritation regardless of careful I was. With the Merkur slant there are no nicks, no irritation, just a super smooth close shave. The slant means the hairs are not tugged, they are sliced. One pass with this and its better than several passes with the DE89. I am even using a feather blade which with this razor is dubbed the widow maker. For me the razor is no such widow maker, its actually very very forgiving, easy to use, super close and super smooth. I am using Arko soap stick (£3 on Amazon) and a cheap synthetic badger brush (~£8 on Amazon). IMO this is the only razor to get, you will not regret it. For the price its a total bargain.

Great Razor highly recommend!!
The 37C is a two piece razor it just exudes quality in how it fits together and feels in-hand. Not cheap but you get a quality item for the money. It's stumpy and weighty for some but if you rest the handle in your palm its superbly balanced.Heard lots about this being aggressive but i really don't find that. I'd describe it as smooth and efficient. Rarely need to do more than 2 passes for a smooth shave. And yet to get any nicks, cuts or blood spots from it. Light touch is the key though as with any safety razor. Its great if you usually get irritation. I alternate this with various shavettes or straight.Well worth the money. Highly recommend it.

A very good razor - don't be scared
There are loads of reviews of this razor on YouTube and the web, so I'll keep mine brief and it's written from the perspective of a new DE shaver (2 months) who wanted to try something different and possibly "more aggressive" than his EJ DE89.This razor is more aggressive than a DE89 but really not by much. I nicked myself on the first shave but since then, not a thing. So please don't be scared to try this. Go slowly and carefully and you will mange to get a very smooth shave indeed. You may also need fewer passes.I liked the heft of this short razor, the build quality is high and I felt safe using the handle's knurling. It provides great feedback and if you teat it like a normal razor, you'll be fine.

Great shave, need to be careful
A revelation. I've tried the 34C and even found an 11C (open comb version now out of production). Tried 37C this morning with a new Gillette Silver Blue blade. Glides over the skin and gives smoother results. Less discomfort going XTG and ATG. Careful though, it is much easier to pick up a nick with this in comparison with the other two straight blades.

Lovely smooth fizzog.
This is the best razor I've used, I've been DE shaving for the past 5 years and tried various DE razors but I always had trouble areas on my neck, no matter which way I shaved or what blade I used, so after looking through the reviews (bad & good) on the slant, I decided to purchase it, I was a little worried about using it the first time with the so called bad reputation it's got.I had a good 3 days growth and after lathering up, this was the moment of truth, was it a bloodbath? No, I had the cleanest shave since DE shaving, not one nick or scrape, my neck and fizzog was smooth.I didn't find the 37c too aggressive but many people might so if you are a beginner, make sure you use a good shaving cream and take your time, as another person said don't shave with it if your in a rush, I like shaving at night to unwind after a hard days work and the wife and kids are in bed, also let the weight of the razor do the work, no need to apply anymore pressure.I would recommend the merkur 37c to anyone, beginners or long time users.Happy shaving.

37c saviour
I have been DE shaving for many years now ,must have tried ten maybe twelve different razors from open comb ,closed comb vintage etcAll have there good and bad pointsMy main concern being all the razors I have used ( including the R41 ,,2011 and 2013 model ) seem to pull as they cut reguardlessof the blade i use ,,feather astra gillette swedes an 7 oclock..That said i still get a good shave but with some irritation.I will add my prep is very goodSo i bought a slantSame prep feather blade,,,,perfect shave closer than any DE i have usedThis 37c slices through my tough beard with little effort so smooth an no razor burn problem areas under chin and noseare no longer a problemThe razor may not be for every one as we are all differentBut for me it is easy to use bbs every time an is a good price an well made ,,with care will last a lifetimeIf you have read this far,,many thanks for your time

Best razor I’ve ever had.
Well worth the money. Gives a closer shave than any other razor I’ve had in my long life.

... the territory of multi head razors which never really satisfied. I've tried old and new gillettes
I've been double edge shaving most of my adult life except for a few forays into the territory of multi head razors which never really satisfied.I've tried old and new gillettes, muhles and several other open and closed comb over the years. I've always dodged slants as they look terrfying - but took the plunge, ordered yesterday, arrived today. First shave this evening.Gosh, what have I been missing! No tugging sensation at all - first of all I thought I'd forgotten to pu a blade in it! I can actually shave more quickly with this as it doesn't need so many passes. It shaves very close and smoothly (think slicing rather than hacking). I did gove myself a couple of very small nicks because I went too fast! Give this razor a bit of respect and you couldn't ask for better.
