not bad
very sturdy. and my boyfriend used it for a live lock. and we’ve gone back and there’s no rust and it dosent feel weak. the key makes it unlock very smoothly and it’s very smooth.

Just enough lock
I use these locks to secure my helmet and jacket onto my motorcycle when I stop on the road. Just enough security to discourage theft without too much weight. Stronger locks are not justified because it is easy for someone with a knife to cut the straps on my rear bag or cut the strap on my helmet. On one trip I left the helmet fastened to my bike in a public parking lot for three days. Helmet was still there. That is all the security I need. Steel might be the strongest. Aluminum is the lightest. I like these brass locks because, as Goldilocks would say, the are just right.

Fits Pelican Vault pistol cases
I purchased these to lock my Pelican Vault pistol storage case for airline travel. They fit perfectly. I dropped my rating by a star because the edges on the locks are kind of sharp. They are sturdy and get the job done, but lack some refinement.

Works great for rifle cases
Most of my rifle cases are the i-series SKB cases and these logs are a perfect fit for the rifle cases. They are bright gold in color so they easily contrast against the black rifle case which makes them easily seen. I live in California where guns have to be unloaded in a locked compartment when transporting. Having the contrasting locks just makes them easier to see by cops if I get pulled over or something. The locks are stout enough not to have to fumble with to open. I dont know about you but I use to use those small little suit case bad locks to lock my cases for travel. The lock and key for those suitcase locks is so small that you have to fumble around with them to get them on and off the case. These locks are big and stout enough where I dont have to do that. They are of course also small enough to fit through the holes on the case that are designated for pad locks.

Excellent Locks
I have had experience with this model of Master locks before, having purchased a package of three keyed-alike locks from a home improvement store for use on three hose bib locking devices that required padlocks to function. But just now I needed more locks, because neighborhood disturbances (water theft, vandalism by running water full blast unknown by the homeowner until later) caused me to decide to secure all hose bibs.Anyone who has had water softening installed knows that the original bibs pipe soft water after the work is done, and the installers add a new hose bib branching from the incoming water line next to each old and now soft-water hose bib. My three, therefore, turned into six. The original three I had used on the soft-water bibs were, as it turned out, fairly cheesy and not nearly so secure as I wanted, so I bought six new ones plus a pack of four (no packs of three were offered) of these locks to allow me to lock all six devices onto the bibs. (As it turned out, this pack of four locks from Amazon was cheaper than a pack of three at the nearby home improvement store, so I was not the loser.)These locks are quite good, not the most robust locks available but entirely suitable for the task. Any lock used outdoors should be carefully lubricated periodically with an appropriate product and should be kept out of direct weather insofar as possible, but with care and occasional maintenance, should last a long time.
