Bought this whilst renovating a bathroom and was a little disappointed that it was plastic and not alloy. However, despite this it's well made and does the job well. Just make sure that when you screw the main part of the body in place, that you check the integrity of the seal around the feed pipe afterwards, as it can pull it out of the wall slightly as the screw is tightened (dependingon how far the final pipe fitting protrudes), which can create a small gap between seal and wall. This is easy to see, and can be easily corrected using the opening underneath the main body for access.

Don't buy it it's fake

Just be aware that this is chrome painted plastic. It also sticks out a long way allowing for different depths of outlet behind tile.

This wall union is quite large and projects much more than expected from the wall-it's much larger than it looks in the images. The outlet cover is also rather flimsy chromed plastic. I expected more from Grohe, especially considering the price. Because of the size I didn't use and bought an Ideal Standard wall union outlet. The Ideal Standard outlet is better quality (all chromed brass including the cover), projects far less from the wall, and is cheaper.

For the price and it being Grohe I was expecting a quality chrome elbow. Instead this painted plastic thing arrived which looks awful and cheap and has a weird shape that sticks out too far. I will definitely not use it and buy a proper chrome elbow at a fraction of the price. Very disappointing.
