Fit for purpose
Simple and effective. Lost a star for VFM as it is quite simple and relatively lightweight for the price.

Opens and closes Velux type windows!
Opens and closes velux windows that are otherwise out of reach. We always knew we'd need something like this when our small extension with a high roof was built. Took us a while to order but it has proved really useful in hot weather with sunlight additionally heating the extension.

Opens my roof windows with ease
Don’t use lots but often enough to know it’s a solid product. My wife is more rough with this to get roof velux windows open and it withstands her force just fine. Good product

just an aluminium stick with a plastic hook but does the job better than any DIY effort
ok, so the price you pay for this, it is much cheaper than direct from Velux. However, even then, it is just an extendable aluminium stick with a plastic hook secured to the end. So you think it costs more than what it is really worth but after messing around beforehand with different combinations of metal poles and hooks, the DIY efforts never work as well as the official product. The plastic hook has a particular shape and grooves that do the job of opening and closing easily, without damaging the surrounding frame which is relatively soft pine that dents and chips easily if contact is made. So weighing up cost versus benefit, this is definately worth stumping up the cash for in terms of functionality and is more asthetically pleasing than any DIY effort would be.
