A lot to digest, and worth every penny
A friend recommended I try Chew after reading Locke & Key Volume 1: Welcome to Lovecraft HC , Y: The Last Man Vol. 1 - Unmanned  and Shade, the Changing Man: The American Scream v. 1 . Her recommendations have never been wrong before and, being a collector of books (and apparently now graphic novels) I went for it and bought the hardcover edition.Purchasing Chew Volume 1: Taster's Choice  and Chew Volume 2: International Flavor  in paperback is about two thirds of the price of the hardcover, so for not a lot more outlay it makes sense to go for the hardier, and very nicely bound hardcover edition of this set.To complement Amazon's own summary, Chew is the story of cibopath Tony Chu, who gains psychic insight from whatever he consumes (apart from beets). In a world where chickyn (sic) is off the menu due to a bird flu epidemic, he goes from investigating black market poultry to something altogether more interesting.Chew has a great main plot. The characters are quirky and the writing complements them well; I can almost hear the accents in my head when I'm reading. I can see why this is one of the most popular Image comic releases of recent times. The hardcover collects Chew 1 and 2, and includes some neat concept sketches at the end. Great value for money, and well worth the purchase.

Read everything
I've read all six volumes, I couldn't get enough of it. Not for those that can not handle dark comedy, and I advice you to google a few images, I did so as well to see if the dark humor worked for me (and it did, that drawing style does wonders for such a fantastic story!).I can only warmly recommend this whole series, it was a pure delight from the beginning until the very end.

One of the best comics around
Chew is a very welcome surprise revelation in the comics industry. The writing is whimsical and intelligent, the characters quirky and unique, the story intriguing and beguiling. But what really makes me love this comic is Rob Guillory's masterful art. The drawings are so expressive and appropriate its hard to put into words. The pages are layed out with infinite care and wisdom, you won't find a straight line anywhere and that's a good thing, it lends the whole thing an air of playfulness missing from today's digital world without venturing over to the chicken scratch pseudo Impressionism of modern illustrations.I really recommend you give Chew a try, it has become my favourite comic and I just can't wait to find out what is happening in Tony Chu's life.

IMAGE quality
Amazing in all respects. Add this to The Walking Dead and its clear that IMAGE is a contemporary Marvel Comics. Visually this is stunning and the writing is inspired. Originally planned as 30 issues CHEW has now been expanded to 60 and the plot is positively Machiavellian. Totally unpredictable.Very funny and a number of running jokes. The full page bed scenes that end a number of comics is hilarious.Black market chicken...Cibopaths. Alien plants. Quality.

Wonderful!!
I got most of the trade paperbacks and thought I'd give the hardcover a go, and I wasn't disappointed. Not only do you get a oversized version of chew in a great quality hardcover you also get some cool extra content at the back of the book.My favourite comic series in the best form Image comics is doing everything right the best publisher.

Humorously Dark
Really enjoyed this comic, the art style is fantastic and has a very generous colour palette which is a big plus in my eyes. It is dark yet humorous which keeps the story line from becoming to monotonous. I can heartily recommend Chew, shame I have to wait until next month to by the second Omnivore Edition.

Personally,it renewed my lost faith in american serialized comics.Extremely well narrated and perfectly stylized. Chemistry between both authors everywhere, every time, in every single page.Amazingly fun without ever dropping to "goofy". It never ceases to grow issue after issue. It is GREAT.
