Downy Rinse & Refresh Free & Gentle Laundry Odor Remover and Fabric Softener, Fragrance Free, 48 fl oz, No Dyes or Heavy Perfumes

We have hard well water. Our laundry was getting smelly and stiff feeling. I cut back on laundry detergent. Didn't help. I tried vinegar in the rinse. Didn't help. Laundry stripping helped - but not for long. I added borax once but it took the color out of our colored clothes. The only thing that worked was Calgon Laundry Softener.....until I tried this. The only reason I switched from Calgon was it got too expensive. This stuff just works. I don't know how....but it does. Bonus Points for being unscented and dye free. Doesn't irritate our sensitive skin - and it doesn't take much so it's a good value for the money.

Love this rinse - helps get odors out of work out gear, mustiness out of towels, and keep fabrics soft without buildup.

Truly works at making items fresh, I only use Tide Ultra Stain Release as it’s the highest rated detergent (if you didn’t know now you know) but even using that my work out wear still had the slightest odor, this eliminates it. It made my cheap work supplied fleece jacket softer which is added bonus.My one gripe is I wish it were cheaper, however I still continue to buy it

I have been using the fragrance-free version of Downy Rinse & Refresh (I am almost through my second bottle). This product does a fabulous job of removing odors from loads of laundry -- icky towels, boy smells, etc. The laundry comes out soft and smelling like -- well, nothing, which is what I want! (I don't care for any type of perfume so the fragrance free suits us well). MAJOR CON: The bottle is a befuddlement. The cap is not really meant to be filled for a dose, and there are no instructions on how much to use. Regardless, I use the cap because if I pour directly from the bottle, the liquid inevitably spills and/or drips down the sides of the bottle -- and the liquid is a little tacky/sticky, so I am constantly wiping down the bottle and elsewhere. Make a spout on this bottle! It's a spilling mess. And tell us how much to use (not by referring to a washing machine dispenser, but based on "cap-ful" or some other actual measuring unit). Except for the bottle, this is a 5+ star product!

I LOVE this stuff. I’ve used another variation but I really like this fragrance free version. It definitely helps make clothes softer on the skin. More than anything I notice that I don’t have any skin issues from using it. Some other products can cause itchiness.I believe it targets odors and I notice it is effective for that, but nothing extreme. I tend to go through it kind of fast. I wish they had a measuring cup. Overall 9/10!

This is the only thing I have found that will take smells out of dirty clothes, even grungy sweaty outside work clothes. Most things that are labeled as "unscented" still have a strong smell that just adds different smells to the clothes. Being allergic to so many perfume or flower smells, it is great to find this one that truly has no smell at all!! Refreshing to find and use! Surprised me that a fabric softener actually takes the smell out instead an actual cleaner.

When I read other reviewers complaining about the bottle I thought they were being a little critical. However, the bottle really is very cheap and flimsy. The picture on Amazon show a small spout on it too. That’s not there either. You have to grip the bottle with two hands and carefully pour the right amount in. Between the thin flimsy bottle and the open top it really does make for a tricky pour. The stuff does seem to work though.
