A Terrific Range
I bought an apartment 5 years ago that had this stove. I have loved every day with it. I am now moving and I was on line looking to see how much it would cost to get one installed my new house. I was shocked by the negative reviews. I have literally never had a single problem with my range. Both the oven and the burners work flawlessly and it is possible to make very fine adjustments to temperature. The oven temp is spot on. I love the star-shaped burners. A tea kettle of water or a pot of water for pasta heats very quickly. I think this is the perfect range for the person who enjoys cooking and has a relatively small space. The stove top looks perfect after years of service.

Fantastic!!!!
We have been very happy with this stove--everything about it. We have the newest model, so perhaps the complaints of the above customer have been addressed. The telescoping shelves are great, the oven bakes to perfection, the metal is high quality, doesn't scratch easily, it is very attractive, the stove top can be adjusted to many different heats--I feel like I am doing restaurant quality cooking and baking at home, and it is a joy! Minor quibbles: the interesting star shaped burners makes the stove top a little harder to clean; and of course, I'd love a self-cleaning oven, but at this level of quality, this is not often found. I looked for a new stove for about a year, read many many reviews....and we have been really delighted (unexpectedly so) with our choice.

Terrible: DO NOT BUY
Complete piece of junk. my sister has a 60's Eickler house and in it she has a Thermador stovetop and range. They still work today flawlessly. thats when i first heard of the name and later read about the company. Thermador the American company that built things with pride deserved all that was there for it. But no longer... I cant tell you the frustration and headaches we've had with this unit and the repairs we did costing over a 1000 and we are now going to throw it out in the garbage and buy a new one. We live in NY and seldom cook compared to most folks. We had a cheap white sears stove that worked for over 10 years and probably still works... But in our new home we spent the money to get something "WELL MADE" something that will "LAST". soon after the warranty ran out one of the back burners stopped working. the igniter would fire but no flame. Then the fan in the oven went out and began to make a noise with out turning. Service calls to Thermodar revealed a $180/hr repair or visit. Meaning a visit will cost $180 be it they fix anything (and charge for parts and labor) or go back empty handed. We said hell lets live with three burners. With in months the broiler stopped working too. We finally made the call. Almost a month later, after waiting in line, they came and said your "XYZ..." has stopped working and we have to order parts. A month later they showed up with the part. They replaced it (and we were billed for the time) but it did not work. The Thermodar repair man said something to the extend of: Sorry you have to drill some tube in the back and that is simply not possible. So you have to live without the 4th burner. However since I ordered the part I will replace the working front knob. And the oven fan? Sorry that is not serviceable either unless we want him to ripp the oven apart and spent hours to fix the fan???? He then changed the broiler igniter and then sent us a bill that together with the first visit was almost $1000. we now had 3 burners again (instead of 4), no working oven fan, but atleast the oven seemed to work. 6 months later the front burner that he placed the new igniter/knot in goes out. Both igniters fire but no flame. I gave up. Month later the broiler goes out again. We now have 2 burners. No broiler, or oven fan, and the 2 left side burners are out. basically 90% of all working functions failed. the oven light however still does work. Basically a large piece of junk. There is no way Id spend a penny fixing this. I have to simply put it in the garbage. This is horrible both morally and environmentally. Shame on Thermador and I hope they see an effect in their sales for producing such irresponsible expensive phoney premium products.

Very poor quality with major design flaws.
I have a slightly older revision of this product. Very basic things are poorly designed - one example - the spark "plug" mounting rings are made of a ferrous metal instead of a brass type material. Result - the simple clips just rust away and the spark plugs can be pulled away from the system within just a few years.Another example - the XLO burners are prone to going bad. Either the simmer controller or the potentiometer or something else is wrong. I've already spent a few hundred dollars repairing this garbage.A third example (ergonomic/safety this time). The knobs are on front. At least on my unit, I can lean on the range and the knobs hit my pocket (the one with a wallet on it) and automatically the knobs move and the sparks fly. On at least half a dozen occasions, I have managed to turn the burners on inadvertently. One fine day, someone will set their house on fire with designs like this. Just avoid this product - like the plague. Its the worst product I have bought in the past decade.
