Restored normal shifts on old rockhopper bicycle
Had a bike that had a lazy shift during down shifts, first I replaced the cable and problem was still there, then replaced the shifter assembly, problem solved. The part is the same, so the fit was perfect, only minor adjustments were made to the derailer,

Cable
The cable was short for my bicycle 26”

The cable was about 6 inches to short to reach the derailer.
I used the old cable and reinstalled with new shifter. Works great now.
