Good buy!
These work great but, they are for kitchen knives or other knives that are over 25-30 mm wide. Otherwise, they will secure the knife safely and get the same angle you want on both sides.

Probably not for beginners, but a nice enough option for different angles
If you're new to sharpening, the key is really keeping consistency of angle. These are designed to help with that. That said, these optimistically instruct that the "knife edge should be parelle to the scale (sic)" which is necessary to keep from having to remove too much material to make the angle consistent across the entire length of a curved blade. There are also a LOT of angle options, but there are whole sets of opinions about what angles are best for which situation and which steels...and the odds are you aren't going to be reprofiling with these to get a different angle. In the end, the idea is solid, the implementation is decent enough to work, but if you don't already have a good idea about sharpening theory (e.g. The Razor Edge Book of Sharpening), it may end up being a bit overwhelming for someone newer to sharpening.

Okay.
I prefer the blue slanted angle ones that do not connect to the knife. They are easier to use.

Idiot-proof sharpening
I love idiotproofing. Because sometimes I'm the idiot. Never is that statement truer than when it comes to sharpening knives. I know how to do it right, but I've never invested the time and energy to develop enough muscle memory to actually get it right consistently. Which means when I've tried to use a sharpening stone I inevitably screw it up. But those little pull-through sharpeners aren't the solution as they eat your knives for lunch and don't really give you a great result. The rolling ones are pretty good, but I've really struggled to try to sharpen smaller knives with them.Queue these guides. Not only do they work with knives small and large, they give me the fastest sharpening I've ever experienced. Pair these with a nice diamond stone and you'll have fantastic sharp knives in no time with little effort. You won't destroy your knives either.I will note that reading the instructions is key as some of the things they call out such as how to use them with different blade designs is critical. My only criticism is you have to hold on to the instructions for the chart of which letter angle guide to use with what knife.

It works, but it isn't easy to follow
Okay, so the plastic pieces themselves are well-constructed. The product listing doesn't have a lot of info, but I believe these are made of ABS hard plastic, or something similar. They are all orange (not green, as mentioned in the listing.)The part that I struggled with is the instructions. Several things to consider:1) It's three pages of charts, measurements, diagrams, calculations, and instructions. Nothing is in order, so you have to kind of read everything and then formulate your own process. It would have helped if they just numbered the steps.2) Although the listing says "for all blades", the instructions say there are some types/sizes of blades that it won't work on.3) You will need a ruler with millimeters on it in order to use the charts and determine which piece to use.4) There are entire sections of the angle guide chart that are blank, which makes it seem like there isn't a piece that you can use. This was the case for 3 of the 4 knives I attempted to sharpen -- so I ended up just using the piece that was closest on the chart. In the end, yes, my knives were sharpened. So, the product does work -- but it may take you some head scratching to get there.

Bulky
Very bulky, cumbersome and not easy to use. Maybe okay for a large knife sharpened on a monster stone.

Good for those of us who are "sharpening challenged"!
I've been eyeing these for a while ever since I first came across the concept at a chef boot camp—though the recommended model wasn’t available when I looked again. I often struggle with sharpening on a stone, so I'm always on the lookout for something to simplify the process. These setters fit neatly into my knife roll, making them a handy companion when I'm on the go. I've only used them a few times so far, and they did a good job on a knife I was taking to a near 18-degree bevel. Since 18 degrees isn’t an option here, 19 worked well enough. I haven't yet tried them on my 15-degree knives, but I'm confident they'll do the trick.
