A must for Wing Chun practitioners
This book is very specialised, but for anyone looking to learn, understand and improve on the wing chun wooden dummy form and applications, it is among the very best books I've seen. The high quality photographs, including the sets if Ip Man demonstrating the form, accompanied by detailed descriptions and applications, make this book both practical and special to own.

Really good book, nice pictures
Really good book, nice pictures.....if your looking for a Dummy Forms book...this is the only one you need.......Would recommend grandmaster Steve Lee Swift's video to fully cover it, he studied under both Ip Man's sons. Look him up on the net.

Expensive, but still very good.
This is easily one of the best Wing Chun books around. It's main focus is the Wooden Dummy form, including execution of the form, but application of the form as well.If you've seen or own "116 Wing Tsun Dummy Techniques" by Yip Chun & Leung Ting, then you'll be familiar with the still-frames of Ip Man performing the Dumy Form that are in this book. As far as I can tell, they're the same photos. But, this book also has top-down sketches of each photo, and lots of full color photos. The book starts with a discussion of the history of dummy as a tool, and from there is organized into form & application. Each section of the form is covered, and examples of how to apply each movement in each section is also detailed. There are other books out there that do this, but few do it as well. For one, many of the applications in this book are simpler and make much more sense than they do in "116 Wing Tsun Dummy Techniques", and they're better explained. Lots of good information on how to do the form, and what each movement means. So this book is more than just a reference to help you remember the form. You'll actually learn stuff - and it's good stuff.Aside from the dummy material, the book is peppered with all sorts of Wing Chun miscellany...little tips and pointers are peppered throoghout, there's a glossary of terms in the back, and lots of rare photos. Also, the physical quality of the product is outstanding. It's a large hardcover, glossy pages, full-color. It's a nice book.I'm not giving it 5 stars for 2 reasons: it's a bit thin, and I just wish the authors had said more and made a longer book. It would've been cool if they covered the Long Pole & Knives, too. The other reason is the price (they just didn't print too many of these). If the book had been a little thicker and slightly less expensive though, Id give it 5 stars all the way. If youve got the cash, though, definitely pick it up. I did, and Im glad I did!
