GREAT 4x5 WAFFLE MAKER !!!!
This Hamilton Beach (model #26009) Waffle Maker (Proctor Silex is the same company) is really great! It makes evenly cooked, light and fluffy, crisp one-inch waffles (3.5 inches x 4.5 inches in size). The non-stick coating works perfectly and the unit's small size guarantees even heating will not be a problem. (The 4x5 in the title of this review refers to the number of depressions in the waffle. Traditionally, 3x5 is a Brussels Waffle, 4x6 is a Liege Waffle. Both are Belgian. Most waffle makers in the U.S. are either round or square, not rectangular. Ergo, they cannot produce Belgian Waffles. But this Hamilton Beach model is as close as I could get. Unless I spend $800 on a 50lb. cast iron unit from a restaurant supply company. Not likely.)Of course, creating a great waffle depends on more than just the waffle maker. For instance, I always brush on a light coating of refined almond oil (smoke point = 495 degrees F.) before the first batter-pour**. If I smell burning oil smoke before the ready-light goes on, I reduce the temperature. With this unit, I set the min/max knob to max. When the pre-heat light went on (after 4 minutes), the oil was just starting to smoke. I poured the batter into the center of the left 4x5 space and then the center of the right space, finishing off any corners the batter had not yet reached. Once the batter touches the grid, the temperature drops and the smoke, if any, stops immediately. Closing and locking the cover presented no problem. Steam started shooting out right away. Steam is 212 degrees F. so smoke has no chance at this point. As this unit has no built-in timer, but asks you to watch for diminishing steam levels, I just set my own timer to 7 minutes (I use whole grain flours and they always take a little longer to cook). Seven minutes later, an absolutely perfect set of two waffles emerged. They lifted out with a toothpick and slid right out onto my waiting serving plate. Then I poured in the remaining batter, set the timer for another 7 minutes and ate a set of fantastic waffles (after adding fresh blueberries and powdered sugar over them).** Whipping egg whites in a separate bowl is a must. Mix yolks, sugar, milk, butter, vanilla, salt (unless its in the butter), and flour, in that order, until smooth. Dump in the whipped egg whites and fold the batter over the egg whites (look up folding on your own - the better you do it, the better your waffle will be). This kind of batter does not run much. Unlikely you'll have any trouble with over-pouring problems. Also, notice there's no baking powder or baking soda in the batter. No yeast, either. None are needed. The whipped egg whites do it all.

Great Little Waffle Maker!
I recently purchased the Hamilton Beach Belgian Mini Waffle Maker and I'm quite pleased with its performance! Here are my thoughts:Pros:Compact Design: This waffle maker is perfect for small kitchens or for anyone with limited storage space. It's small enough to leave out on the counter without taking up too much room.Quick and Easy to Use: I love how fast it heats up and cooks waffles. Within minutes, I have delicious, golden-brown waffles ready to enjoy. Perfect for busy mornings!Non-Stick Surface: Cleaning is a breeze thanks to the non-stick surface. Waffles slide right off, and a quick wipe with a damp cloth is all it takes to clean it up.Versatile: Despite its size, this mini waffle maker can handle a variety of batters, from traditional to gluten-free or vegan mixes. It's versatile enough to suit different dietary preferences.Cons:Size: While perfect for one or two people, it may not be ideal for larger families since it makes only one waffle at a time.Indicator Light: The indicator light is a bit small and can be difficult to see if the waffle maker is ready. It would be helpful if it were a bit more prominent.Overall, the Hamilton Beach Belgian Mini Waffle Maker is a fantastic addition to any kitchen, especially for those who enjoy homemade waffles without the hassle of a larger appliance. Despite a couple of minor issues, it delivers great results every time. Highly recommended!

The Perfect Waffle Maker!
I couldn't ask for a better waffle maker. Its sleek stainless steel exterior and non-stick interior showcase quality and durability. The red and green indicator lights eliminate guesswork for when to pour the batter, while the adjustable heat controls let you choose between well-done or softer waffles. I would definitely repurchase this waffle maker and highly recommend it.

Exactly What I Wanted - Inexpensive, Functional, Low Profile
I've used this about 25 times now. I've used it on everything--buttermilk waffles, cornbread waffles, grilled cheese sandwiches--you name it. It has worked flawlessly on everything. It's simple, and only has one heat adjustment slider, which seems to respond well when you need to lower or raise the temperature. The shape of the waffles is my favorite part, since square waffles are the best. And it makes two big individual servings with each batch--feels like more of a complete meal than cutting a circular belgian waffle in half. And works great for sandwiches. It's surprisingly easy to clean even though the plates are not removable. I just carefully run it under hot water and let it fully dry overnight before using it again. I do recommend cleaning it very well before first use. And for your first few waffles, leave the heat slider on the lowest setting, and check on the waffles after about 2 minutes. I overcooked my first batch at 4 minutes since it was whole wheat, and they tasted plasticky since I didn't wash it as thoroughly as I needed to. And make sure you liberally use cooking spray. The nonstick surface works great along with cooking spray--no clinging whatsoever, except for the one time I forgot to use spray. The lock/latch that holds the waffle maker closed is not very strong but it does work for batters. It won't work well if you are waffling something like tater tots since it doesn't grip very tight. Be careful not to overfill--I do 1/4 cup of batter per waffle, maybe a little less. This waffle maker is inexpensive and worth every penny, small and easy to store, and has minimal settings--exactly what I wanted. Enjoy!
