Great banjo tuner
This is the best banjo tuner I own. It appears to be very accurate and small enough to carry.

It works
My first tuner. I'm a novice. It seemed to work while I restrung the banjo that was loaned to me to learn on. I got it tuned. I don't have any other tuners to compare it to, but it seems to work fine.

If you play bluegrass, get yourself one!
I don't think that Korg is making this model any longer so grab one while you can! I have a B.A. in music and was a working, professional musician and this WILL get the job done. Very versatile. I love it!

This is my favorite Tuner. I prefer these over the ones that you clip to your instrument. The Korg is great. 2nd one I have owned. The first one someone else accidentally liked a lotand it walked away. So I bought another.

Won't Work for Alternate Tunings
I bought this thinking it would work for speedy tuning and retuning during my bluegrass gigs, but it only has one tuning option available for the fiddle setting, which is the standard violin tuning. If I try to switch to an alternate tuning, it won't even register the notes being played. I will be returning the item.

Won't tune a Standard Tenor Banjo
I am new to string instruments and have recently purchased a tenor banjo. I know that this type isn't considered a "bluegrass" instrument but in flipping through tuners I found the one which came up under the ability to tune banjos: Korg BA40 Tuner for Bluegrass Instruments. It sounded sophisticated enough to handle lots of tuning changes but it wasn't capable of tuning my tenor at standard C-G-D-A. Apparently it is really only suitable for a 5-string bluegrass banjo. I was able to flip through the various other instruments (as advertised) and eventually tune the G-D-A strings. But that was across many settings in the tuner. Alas, no C-string tuning here! I ended up returning the product and downloading a free tuner app to my iPad. I can't say that the app is more accurate than this tuner but it seems comparable in accuracy, has many more features, and isn't limited by the settings on a tuner like the Korg BA40.
