DD-WRT capable
This is a very compact, unobtrusive unit that seems to work well. The unobtrusiveness is very important if you have a partner who is picky about clutter. A big advantage, and I hadn't realised what a big advantage it is until I tried to use this router, is that you can install the DD-WRT firmware. Because I'm ignorant and technically incompetent it took me a while to flash the firmware and get the unit operating properly as a repeater bridge. Knowing what I know now, the whole process would take about 15 minutes. If you don't want to do anything complicated, getting it to work as a simple wireless router is dead easy with the supplied CD.I haven't had any range problems in my house.

Great router
Great works perfectly, laptop wireless goes 100MBP/S with my computer connected with cable. Internet doesn't disappear, when one device downloads at 100MBP/S the other just has a slower connection (not like my old D-link DIR-100). All in all awesome device. The only problem that i can think of is the time to device boots up. It takes about 20 sec.

Rubbish
Brought this to use as a simple wireless bridge - wasted several hours of my life trying to get it to work.My day job is in I.T. & while I'm not a networking expert I know what I'm doing.Looks like you may need to install 3rd party firmware to make it work as a wireless bridge - what a joke!Except I'm not laughing - now packing it up to return to Amazon.

extremely poor signal strength
I found this quite hard to set up as an access point. In the end the signal strength was so poor I ended up returning it.

Great value for money
This router/AP is great value for money, but for those thinking of overwriting the firmware with DD-WRT, be aware the model you are most likely to receive (i.e. WHR-G300Nv2 not v1) is not properly supported by DD-WRT.The v2 is based on a different chipset (Atheros WiSOC) and therefore is only supported by a custom version of DD-WRT details of which can be found on their forum (google "DD-WRT WHR-G300Nv2"). I found this to be a bit of a disappointment because I had wanted to use the router as a wifi extender for my existing ADSL Router/wifi AP (i.e. in Repeater mode) but the custom DD-WRT does not support this mode and even the related modes (client bridge) do not work properly (at the time of writing). However, this device is such good value that I am going to solve my wifi extender needs by buying another one and connecting it to my ADSL modem on which I'll then disable the wifi. This still works out cheaper than buying the ~£60 bridging routers I've seen on the net plus I get a mode N link into the bargain (as my existing modem only does b/g).

it's a router not a modem!
thinking of decluttering your house of all the wires then don't bother with this you still need your old modem (or a new one) of which this plugs into too work, thats two mains sockets using two lots of electric two boxes which if you have the space you could hide them but why bother I will still have a wire running from hall way to living room to conect a ethernet wire

Update the firmware
Most stock firmware, no matter the manufacturer, is worthless and should be removed as soon as possible. Luckily this router is compatible with dd-wrt, which I installed immediately after plugging it in for the first time.Don't buy this router expecting to do anything else but replace the firmware. If you do not fix it yourself you will be disappointed.

Airstation WHR-G300N/U
Fantastic price from Amazon for this versatile N router. Most importantly it can easily be modified by running the DD-WRT firmware which gives additional features (I needed it as a wireless bridge) although your warranty will be voided as impossible to revert to Buffalo firmware. NB 'bridge' on box means wired to wireless within the router NOT over the wi-fi link - hence need for DD-WRT. Physically small and easily hidden or put in an inconspicuous location (I used it to connect my internet enabled TV (Sony KDL-32W5500) in the lounge to my BT wirless router in teh study). Easily supports iPlayer and streamed audio from a PC etc. Only downside (hence 4 stars) is that the small box only has internal antennae which do not give the best reception - though re-orientating the box can help a lot.
