Great for decorative sculptures!
Great for sculptures! This works really well for kids sculptures. I wouldn't use it for anything thin or that is going to get a lot of use unless you fire it, but it dries very solid for sculptural / thick pieces and does not crack. We used with a co-op of 30 kids and they dried for a week before painting them. Then we spray sealed. It takes acrylic paint and pastels well and are a great alternative when you can't make time to fire stuff!

order came quickly and product good
i ordered this for a project in my classroom. On a wish and a rayer it would come on time. It did! the bag/pkg was pretty beat up so my heart sank until i inspected the inner plastic bag. The bag was intact and the clay just fine...all of it. The project went great and fun was had by all! I will definately use this company for my clay needs in the future for the quality and Amazon for quick transaction service.

Excited to Craft
As soon as the package arrived I honestly didn't open it right away. It stood by my doorway for a few days. I can honestly say that after opening up the package today the clay still feels fresh and moist. truly easy to work with and will stay that way if kept in proper environment. Absolutely worth the money, I would buy it again !!!

A Lovely Clay
Used 2 of these boxes of clay to sculpt a head/bust. Nice to work with. Covered with a moist paper towel and then wrapped in plastic when I wasn't working with it. I let it air dry when I was done. The only cracks were at the very bottom where I had set it on a turn table. None of the details were lost. This was perfect for my project. The terra cotta color is very natural looking. Didn't stain my mat or floor.

Okay, for beginners
It's pliable but almost too solf for my liking. I'm keeping it for playing around with getting back into pottery but too soft for experienced users. Best for beginners or children

Great consistency, unique scuplting due to Terra Cotta formula.
Something that I never thought would happen did, I fell in love with sculpting in Terra Cotta. This 25 lbs block from Amaco is well put together, and has a great consistency. I found that the Terra Cotta has a unique felling when your pushing the clay around, which I totally love. I believe this is due to the unique formula in this clay, but I have fallen in love. When pushing around other water based clays I found that they had a muddy consistency out of the box and if they were too wet I had to leave them for a couple hours and go back to actually get any sculpting done. With the Terra Cotta, I found that it has an almost oily consistency and sculpting with it right out of the box was a dream. It was plenty of fun to sculpt with and I highly suggest that if you find some of the other clays a bit too moist, to give this Terra Cotta a shot.I would highly recommend this clay for figure work, throwing on a wheel, or doing larger sculpts. The sculpture that I created from half of this block was able to keep itself moist enough to work with over a (2) week period. Even after that I found that going in to do fine details with dental tools, the clay was easily worked with, unlike some of the other varieties from Amaco that tend to chip more.Great clay!

Fun quarantine pastime
I bought this as a replacement for a pottery class during the coronavirus outbreak and it worked perfectly! Since I did not have a kiln it was easy to let dry slowly to have a finished piece. I do wish the bag it comes in inside the box was sealed rather than just wrapped around the clay, it makes me worry that if this was shipped far it might dry out. All around great product besides that!

Great product!
This product was used for a classroom project. I was pleased with the amount of clay I received. The clay was not as messy as I thought it would be. It was easy to separate into chunks for my students.
