Pfaltzgraff Filigree 32-Piece Dinnerware Set (Service for 8)

I searched for months for a white/off white dinnerware that I liked and that I could, from time-to-time, dress up with colored dishes. I was delighted when I finally found Pfaltzgraff's Filigree dinnerware. I love my dishes but there are definite cons to take into consideration when making a dinnerware purchase.1) They stain very easily. I drink a lot of coffee and tea and there is a definite stain after just 1 use. I tend to put up with it until I have several well stained mugs and then de-stain the lot of them. To remove the stains: 1 glug (about 1/4 cup) bleach in about 1 qt of hot water although I doubt the water temperature has anything to do with the actual stain removal. A quick dip followed by a normal trip through the dishwasher and they're good as new. If they are really and truly stained, I leave them a bit longer in my bleach/water mix. They need to be washed with soap and water after the bleach.2) The dinnerware is stoneware with unsealed rings on the bottom. What this means is the dishes cannot be really soaked. That said, it has broken me of the habit of leaving dishes to soak until I have a sinkful before washing.3) The dinnerware may chip easily. I managed to chip off a bit of the glaze on one of my dinner plates. I was not happy but that's what I get for being less than gentle when hand washing the dishes. Yes, they can go into the dishwasher but as a single person it is, sometimes, just as easy to hand wash a dish as put it in the dishwasher.As for the chipped dinner plate, I found that the Pfaltzgraff Web site sells by open stock as well as by set. By watching the site, I managed to snag a replacement dinner plate for $3 plus shipping.All of that aside, it should be remembered that this is not fine china but everyday dinnerware.

I ordered two sets expecting the classic WHITE stoneware that I grew up with. What I got was NOT white - more a cream/beige color - with lousy quality control. What's supposed to be a tone-on-tone embossed pattern was brown on white on some pieces. I was really unimpressed and thought I got a bad batch from Amazon. So I sent it back and spent twice as much to order it from Pfaltzgraff. Once again, I got 4 boxes of the same 'crap' that I returned to Amazon. When I called Pfaltzgraff to ask what gives, a very helpful woman told me that Pfaltzgraff used to be made in the USA but now it's being manufactured entirely in China. She told me, essentially, that if I want the same stoneware I grew up with, I'm out of luck because everything is coming from China now and it just doesn't compare. Filigree was great 10-15 years ago but I'd personally steer clear now. I'm going back to the drawing board to see if I can find something comparable that hasn't sold American integrity to China! Pfaltzgraff just isn't the same anymore. This isn't what our mothers and grandmothers loved and trusted.

I bought this set originally for my son for a Christmas gift and I’m back to add to that set so that he has more dishes for a growing family and entertaining. He and his wife admire the clean, simple design and high quality of this dinnerware. They were happy with the additional pieces to this dinnerware set.

I am very pleased with my new dinnerware. I have been a fan of Pfaltzgraff for a very long time and purchased the winterberry pattern for use during the winter season. I decided to purchase filagree to use in the summertime and to supplement the winterberry when I have large group dinners! It is exactly what I wanted! I am very happy with my purchase!

We love these dishes. They are a nice off white color and the pattern is very subtle. They would match many styles. They are dressy enough for company and perfect for everyday. Came well packaged. They feel substantial. The mugs are nice and big with comfortable handles. The sandwich plates are big enough to be useful. Couldn’t be happier with them.

Bought from the warehouse deals site that said it was a 48 piece set but it was really only a 16 pc. Not sure how they mixed that up. Other than that it seems ok. A little different than my other set that is 15 years old, its no longer made in USA like my old one says and the shape is slightly different. Ended up sending it back to get a larger set.

These are very beautiful! I had the same Pfaltzgraff set with pastel flowers on it that I received for my wedding 23 years ago. I bought this set that matched but with out the dated looking flowers. This set goes perfectly with all the accessories I have. Pfaltzgraft is a timeless dish that lasts many, many years!

Received wrong item and double my order. Tried many times to contact seller. Asked for 4 return labels & a simple cust service rep phone number to help me with it. I did order the Pfatzgraf Trellis set I wanted & love them...
