BEST WATCH EVER
a cutting edge piece!it is a remarkably faithful reedition of one of the coolest milsubs ever made, the certina 1967 watch by the same name. it is a few millimeters bigger than the original, which ticks a few people off, but i see it as a modern watch so do not mind it at all, and i'm just grateful the construction and appearance is astoundingly faithful to the original.my former icon of watches was the rolex submariner, James Bond version, but this has replaced it. the domed acrylic crystal and lack of crown guards brings this back to an era when men were men and watches were watches. the crown is screwdown, the hands and dial markers very luminous but beautifully spare and professional. the clean dial with it's ph200 trademark red cross is, as with the original, 1960s clean and spectacular.my only issues with the watch would never be enough to keep me from it. 1. the 60 click bezel is spot on and probably the nicest 60 clicker i've ever used, and was likely what was on the 1967 edition...so i cannot fault it...but i do love 120 clicks. still, as a faithful element to the original i cannot complain. 2. i so would have preferred the eta in the watch to be the original beat rate of 28800 bpm, but the swatch group has altered many of their eta movements to run an 80 hour reserve, admiral, but accomplished by knocking the beat rate to 21600 bpm. there are some as myself who value the almost beatless smoooth movement of a seconds hand around the dial, and it was sad to see it was not to be in this watch. still, the almost double running time and less wear over the lifetime of the watch, is cool. but i'd have preferred the higher rate.the watch is stellar in every respect and a true surprising delight for those whose favorite watch genre is the milsub, or even just retro divers. even if you just like normal watches, this will captivate you. for the price...especially here, it is a no brainer, must buy.if this came in bubble wrap inside a plain brown box, it would still be the best watch out there. but the presentation replete with pelican style case and included NATO strap, tops about anything i've seen in any other watch. the superb brown leather strap on it is EZ pin release so you can change it without a tool and very easily, while being very secure. included are 2 extra pins to put in if you wish to use the NATO or another strap.a total must get!
