Not super sour but the bread is fantastic!
Not as sour compared to when I had my own starter going but the bread came out with a crispy crust and very soft inside. I made the dough in my bread maker, took it out, formed it into a tight ball, covered it and put it in the fridge to rise for 3 hours. At 3 hours the dough had risen over the top of the boucle pan. I took it out, did another fold into a ball and dropped it back in the pan on parchment, covered it and let it rise for an hour. I turned the oven onto 500, when the oven had been on for 30 minutes, I put my Dutch oven in to heat it up. At the one hour mark - when the dough had risen for a total of 60 minutes, I dropped the dough on the parchment paper into the pan, tossed 6 ice cubes under the parchment, put the lid on and immediately dropped the temp to 425. I baked the bread - lid on for 30 minutes, removed the lid and let it bake for another 15 minutes. Took the pan out, and lifted the bread onto the counter to cool. My partner and I could barely wait for it to cool - it was wonderful. My packet had a QR code that took me to the Red Star yeast site and I used their recipe for sourdough. Simple recipe - 1.75 cups warm water, 2 teaspoons kosher salt, 4.5 cups of bread flour and empty the packet on top. I put this on the dough cycle and when it was done rising - it was up against the viewing window! I agree with others that it might be a little pricey per packet but I think I'm worth $3.50 once a month!

Love this sour dough east. No wait.

Quick and easy sourdough
It was an easy yeast to use and it has a slight sourdough taste but if your looking for a good sourdough nothing beats an old and well fed starter.

WOW!
I'm so happy I tried the Platinum sour dough starter! I had the most beautiful sponge/ AND I made sauerkraut strudel dough, and cinnamon buns, PLUS 5 loaves bread (7 3/4 x 3 2/4)! I will be using this product again FOR SURE! Although it seems a little pricey, I considered that I did not need to have a sour dough bucket setting around... (just lazy I guess). The convenience was a plus and the bread products.... what can I say? DEEE-LICIOUS!

Kind of on the fence with this one
I tried just a small sample size dough and I just didn't taste the sourdough flavor. And I used the correct ratios for this yeast. Not much different than a long ferment with regular yeast. I'll try a larger batch with the rest but if it's similar results I'll pass on this one. Plus I didn't see it as being anywhere near as active as my other yeast I purchased, so that was also disappointing. Wish I had the same reaction as some of the other stellar reviews on here. I'll be fair and change the review if I see different results using a larger portion, but so far not so good. My 3 stars are given as it did rise and it did make a decent tasting bread, just value for money wasn't there for me compared to what I normally use.

Not worth it
Meh. I got this as a quick cheat when my own starter is in flux, but didn’t really pass the test. Still not the same as using your own, and the flavor was pretty subpar. Also pretty sure the breads density was due in part to this. Instructions don’t really specify how this subs for the real thing. In all actuality it’s just yeast, really expensive yeast.

Great and easy surdough.
Great to make bread, but ig is not a starter contrarily to what I thought. However, the bread was delicious. We ate it still a little bit warmer, it was soft and tender with a crispy crust! Remember to put a ramekin full of water when switching on the oven and to spray water when putting the bread in. Very easy to use, read attentively the indications on the back. Makes two breads, at least for me, but depends on the size of ur molds.
