Better than other reviewers say... So Far
I’m using this as a garage man cave system. I have a Sony usb turntable connected and my iPod. While I agree with other reviews regarding the remote (not having a power button) which is no big deal to me. I think this receiver is great for what you pay for it! I’m happy with it. It does make a few weird noises here and there that are not audible while music is playing and the fan is a bit loud. Again not too loud considering I have a heater in the garage that has a louder fan so it’s not really noticeable. For what I’m using it for, it works great! Sounds good and it’s super loud even with my Sony bookshelf speakers. Wouldn’t recommend for normal living room stereo use for the reasons above but it’s great as an extra stereo

Great value for the price
Great value for the money. Package arrived free of defects and worked right out of the box after hooking up my speaker wires and antenna. Took awhile to figure out the remote and saving radio stations but I got there after 5 min. No big deal to me that the remote does not control off/on.

Don't waste your time. Cheap junk.
The only good things about this unit is that it was delivered fast, and the unit is cheap. I got it to replace an old broken Sony receiver- which even with one channel not working, and being several decades old, still sounds way better than this new unit. Sadly, you get what you pay for.The description on this listing and the so called manual are vague. Mostly it lists what can go wrong with your unit, interference, blown fuse, noise, and so on, and implies that it's your fault. You must have plugged it in wrong, or used the wrong speakers, and if balance knob isn't working, you probably need to buy a new one! So then, where's the list of the right speakers that I'm supposed to use? They're name brand speakers within the common recommended impedance range, so there should not be a problem. The unit wasn't likely built properly, and so any noise comes from the unit itself. There is a buzzing tone you hear in the bass, and a hiss in the treble. If you turn those knobs up, the buzz and hiss only worsen. If you turn the volume up, the noise is lessened a bit, but is still audible. I live in a small apartment, so there's a limit on how far away I can place my speakers. That shouldn't matter if I use new cables that are connected properly. When you turn it on, it goes to 10 db instead of 0. Depending on what you have plugged in, that "10 db" can be either too loud, or too quiet. It's very inconsistent. What you see on the display does not always reflect what is really happening with the unit.If you're an expert who doesn't mind DIY tinkering, and has the time to mess with it, this may be for you. If you like a bunch of bright LED's that can't be dimmed, and don't care much about sound quality, this may be for you.The chassis is metal, but the build quality of the face plate is terrible- very cheap light plastic that may have enjoyed a former life as food containers. The remote is cheap looking, and doesn't even have a power button. The radio stations it does pick up sound fair, but not great. It has presets, but oddly it doesn't remember the last station it was at when you turn the radio back on.It does not have bluetooth, though other similar Pyle products seem to, which is misleading. It has mic jacks I'll never use, but no headphone jack, unless you use an adapter to an audio output on the back, which will likely sound terrible. The 8 GB USB port is useless since you can connect a computer or phone to it anyway. I tried connecting my TV to it, and it sounded terrible.A turntable and pre amp connected to it sounds ok, but not great, and you still hear some noise from the Pyle unit. If anything, this has taught me to heed overwhelmingly bad reviews on products. You're better off taking a chance on a used vintage stereo receiver, getting a name brand compact bookshelf system, or saving money to buy something better. It might seem like a bargain, or maybe work as a temporary system, but know you're getting something that just kind of works, but not something you're going to love, or that will sound decent. I'm not even going through the effort to try to return it. It's eventually going in the trash. Basically, I wasted $100. Save yourself the heart ache, and don't by any garbage PYLE products!

Good enough for short term option
Needed a cheap replacement for my 20 year old JVC stereo unit that finally went out after several years of use, until I'm able to settle on a better long term unit. I've had this unit in use for the past 90 days.Verdict: Good enough for the cost. But if you can find a better unit on sale around the same price point, I would look hard at that.ProsWorks for most of what is needed.Gives me audio input and speaker output.ConsThe main issue I would have is, as others have stated, no settings retention. When turned off and then back on, settings need to be readjusted. With that, when turning back on the volume goes way too high when turning on. Normally that wouldn't be an issue but the sound quality isn't very good - its do-able as long as you keep the volume low enough not to blow your speakers.[Posted by another reviewer]Volume steps are too large. More variable volume output space would be nice. Each step of the volume/volume knob is represented by increments of 2. using volume of 08 is hard to hear, 10 is a little loud, 12 is way too loud through the Aux inputs. - AgreedNeutral:I haven't used any of the data inputs, SD, USB, Ipod/mp3 since I stream all of that through my computer thats hooked into this through stereo input. For my particular use, no need to use the remote control so I have no input on that.I don't use the karaoke/mic function. Instead of mic inputs would've preferred, headphone output, and the ability to plug in wireless headphone unit for when I want to bypass the speakers, but wasn't an option on this unit.

Killer Buy of a Product
This was a surprise of a product. I didn't think much about what I was going to get. I figured for the price I was going to get amplification and that's all that mattered...for my needs. Took it out of the box, plugged it in; connected the speakers. And then went, "Wow!!!" This thing sounded fantastic!!! I can't believe I paid so little and got such great sound!!! I think the build quality is great for what I paid. I use this product to receive signal from a DAC that's receiving signal from a Windows 10 machine. Led Zeppelin and Rush never sounded so good!!! I'm so pleased with this product I'm planning to buy its "Little Brother" and put it in the garage. Don't need that much power as the "Big Brother" has. Definitely recommend this product. If you need something basic to power speakers, this is great buy. You're not going to find this listed in the "Recommended Components" list in Stereophile Magazine. But you won't be disappointed either.
