Happy with Purchase :)
This is one of those products I wish I knew about sooner!I have been using laptops for nearly 2 decades and never given much thought about how much wireless radiation I am exposed to. It isn't until recently there have been much more awareness on the topic that I had to take action. One of those actions is buying this pad.The pad itself is very simple and very good quality. It has a nice rubber surface layer that sits on top of a sturdy tray. The rubber area grips to the laptop and absorbs heat. But if you are someone, like me, who tends to have their knees up it will slip down against your belly. Which is okay, since that is how I typically use my laptop but it still remains on top of this pad and still blocks any wireless radiation from below. As for heat this pad helps a lot. Since it is a flat surface there be improved air flow equivalent to using a laptop on a desk. Depending on how hot your laptop gets you will either feel no heat on the bottom or a small amount that one has to specifically touch the bottom to feel. If your laptop's fans are always whirling and running hot no matter what then I highly recommend to open it up and use canned air. I do this on mines every 6 months and it makes a big difference! This pad will not solve major overheating issues but will greatly lessen the heat has on your body.As for the wireless radiation blocking portion I haven't done any tests since I don't have one of those EMF meter thingies. They are quite expensive, especially a good one! This pad is designed to only reduce wireless radiation from below, which is very important, especially if you are a male. Although I can't say how much it reduces it by what I can say is that after a few weeks of use I do feel less fatigued than I usually did before. This is one of those products that is used daily without thought... until the laptop gets so hot that you are then reminded of it cuz you forgot to use it!

It does seem to do what it claims...
I tested it with a TriField gaussmeter and the reading did not increase at all from ambient levels. I never tested it with my RF meter because I use my laptop with ethernet (and you should too if you are trying to reduce exposure).By the way, don't make the mistake I made for many years...use a SHIELDED ethernet cable and GROUND it by using conductive tape (not aluminum tape - the adhesive is not conductive) Here is what I use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B097HC9HR7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1. It is SO simple to do. If you have the ethernet cable connected to an ethernet over powerline device you will likely have body voltage north of 40 VOLTS which completely defeats the purpose of using ethernet in the first place (if you're doing it for health reasons). Just connect a small piece of the tape to all the gold plated connectors that are plugged into the switch or router and use a gator to ground plug into a grounded outlet in order to ground all electrical fields - IF your home or apartment is properly grounded, that is.Anyway, back to the product. It seems to work. However, there was a really nasty chemical smell (probably from the glue connecting the padding to the mat). It took about 1-2 months to fully go away, and the mat is not completely evenly connected to the mat, so that was a little sloppy. I'll be nice though and I won't deduct a star for that. If you get one that's been sitting in the warehouse a little longer, it's possible all the glue will have off gassed by then. The product does seem a bit pricey but you really can't go wrong with it as it is a nice size, fairly comfortable with good grip, and it really does block 99.99% of ELF. If that's very important to you, I'd say it's well worth it. Most if not all competitors' products only block 80-90%. I'd recommend paying 30-40 dollars more for FULL protection - stop cheaping out on yourself and just BUY IT already!Good luck!-Mark

This product is excellent in my opinion as it achieves all goals
I bought this product about 6 weeks ago and have used it daily with my Macbook Retina Pro as well as with other things (iPad Pro, large books.) This product is excellent in my opinion as it achieves all goals which, while may seam simple to achieve to some people, simply aren't when you survey the space of products. First, it is very thin, but also completely rigid and strong. It handles a good deal of weight and never flexes. It is easily stored in my backpack/computer bag and also I keep it to the side of my chair, leaned-up against the side of it. Second, it has a grippy surface on the top so the laptop won't slip-off. You can also put your leather sleeve, if you have one, on top of the defenderpad and then your laptop, that also works well. Every other laptop pad/lapdesk I have used lacks a grippy surface and my laptop fell to the ground a few times-- rules them out without my modifying them in some way to create a grippy surface. Third, it absolutely absorbs heat from the laptop-- folks that are posting here without buying the product and then offer their "expert" opinion are not helping anyone. For my macbook pro, which does get hot, it blocks the heat. Again also, if you have a leather slip/cover for your laptop, you can also double it up. I sometimes do that so my sleeve is nearby. Finally, relative to blocking radiation, I cannot prove that but I can say that the manufacturer has gone out of their way to explain what kind of radiation blocking they provide and the product does everything they promised in all other respects. I'm happy with it, after buying a number of these types of products and giving up on them, this one is a keeper.
